Looking to buy one in the 16-20 foot range. So, anybody in the know give me a little help here. I've been checking everywhere and price ranges are just crazy for these things,...I mean a 7x16 on ebay ranges from 2700-8000...what's the reason for the price difference? I really like the Pace ones but they are the highest priced. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Well, I'm just buying it to move across the country but I think I'll probably keep it. I'd like to have something I could put an a/c on and make a small bunk area and shower for taking the rzr and dirt bikes on camping trips. I've heard the Pace trailers are good for that but they want some serious $$$. I can get the same size trailer at Home Depot for 2k less.

A good 7x16 should run you about 4000-5000 depending on the options. Main things to look is dexter axles.. Brakes on both axles.. 15" wheels and what kind of tires. 16" on center floor and walls studs. Treated floor and what the main frame and tongue is made of. For a 7x16 you would want a 6" Ibeam frame..
Besides that its a matter of looks. Led tail lights how the outside trim looks Ect..

Always get bigger than you think you will need. I have a 16' w/ tool bench in front and it is just bearly big enough. @ 7' wide if you have doors you can hardly get the doors open. Go with at least 20' and 102" wide w/ a ramp door.
I like the Interstate brand they are a step up from Pace.

I just purchased a black used 4 year old 24' x 102" Hallmark Race trailer here in Phoenix for $5000. Aluminum shelves, rhino lined floor, new tires. Nice loaded trailer like new.

On Craigslist. Keep a close eye because they go fast.

I've been looking, and people strongly suggested a Vee-nose.

A friend drove 16 hours to Georgia for one of the 7x16 ones off of ebay and he is very happy with it. I think he paid $3000, and locally the same thing is going for over double that.

There is some debate of the V-nose thing. I guess if your going 8' wide then it probably does help a decent amount.. On a 6-7 footer I'm not sure how much it matters.. I know on my trailer only about a foot of the top is in the wind. Its easy to tell by where the bugs hit lol. I did a lot of looking around online and most seem to say it doesn't matter much at all. I would love to find any kind of test with the same size, weight trailer one V and one round to see how big a difference it really makes.. Most seem to say the sqaure rear end is what hurts you on the highway?

Be careful with the V nose I think the length encludes the V which is 2' of unuseable space. So if you buy a 16' trailer you end up with only 14' of usable space. You can put gear bags and stuff on the floor of the V, I built shelfs to use the wasted space. The V does help with the wind resistance on the highway, but unless you are putting on 20,000 to 30,000 miles a year, as I did, you will not notice a big $ difference.
And with a V nose most people think you are pulling a horse trailer.

I'm a fan of the vee-nose, regardless of fuel economy, simply because of the extra storage space as you had mentioned.

I just bought a 7 X 14 V nose by Aluminum Trailers by Lightning Trailers.(LTF714TA2) I had it factory customed to a 7 foot door heigth for both ease of loading tall items for installs and for getting a 2 inch lifted RZR into it. I had them run 2 e-tracks on a 56 inch center (in retrospect 52 would have been better) on the floor. E-track was run on each wall with plywood walls. Its an all aluminum dual dexter axle trailer and it tows SO much better with a dual over single axle. I get the same if not a little better gas milage I had with the single axle steel haulmark with this and its 2 ft longer and over a foot higher. I think the V nose and it being aluminum combined makes up for it.

Using etrack wheel tie downs secures the RZR nicely and allows for lots of storage and carrying extra stuff.

Watch out for regular 67-69 inch rear ramps. When the RZR was still stock it barely fit in under the top of the door. It seems like the industry standard door heigth was not enough in my case and should be a factor in planning on which trailer to buy.

1 thing axles axles axles make sure you buy with HD axles, I have a 24 foot haulmark, it has 5500lb axles, I carry 4 quads and a rzr then added 50 gallons of water and 30 gallon gas tank, you need to handle the load, you see peopel with snapped axles all the time, 2500 LB axles and 10K of stuff in it, will not work for long. BTW if you can buy a pace and afford it do it they pull like a DREAM

I think the way they build the V varies from each company.. Some split it.. So if you order say a 14' trailer your box might only be 13" But to the tip of the V you will have almost 15. Some count the V as total length, so a 16' V nose will only be a 14' foot box.. I agree the V section is pretty hard to use. Its even worse on the smaller the trailer. 6' wide trailer with a V makes it pretty hard to do much with the front.. A car hauler is a little better since they are so wide. I went with a flat front on mine.. Gave me room for a full sized battery and tool box on the front.

Its not bad.. Interstate trailers are kinda of high IMO.. They are built pretty well. I don't like the plastic cap on the top.. When I was looking at used trailers, almost all of them that had a cap, either had cracks or leaks. They do make the trailers look better though. I priced a 7x14 freedom for 4100. It had most of the same features.. Stoneguard, vent, 16" on center wall and floor studs.. Only had a 6" Ibeam frame, but it was a 14' not a 16'

I've never seen an interstate trailer that didn't have a front nose cap.. I'm pretty sure its not covered under the roof warranty.. Might want to check. I think their caps are fiberglass that or ABS. Seems like they all use something different.

If you look at that picture.. You see the top front nose of the trailer? Thats plastic. Those break and leak often.. I can't remember if interstate uses ABS or fiberglass.. Its been over a year since I looked at them.. But its one of the two.. Those plastic caps are prone to leaking.. A lot of trailers just use aluminum trim where the roof meets the front. It doesn't look as nice, but from what i've seen it will last longer..

K, thanks. I guess I'll make sure that it's covered under the roof warranty or I'll go a different direction. It looks like all of their pro series trailers have that plastic cap but they say it's their best trailer. Thanks for the help man. I'm buying it for a move to Bama, maybe we can ride sometime.

Np. I looked at interstate trailers myself after I almost bought a used one. Was a 7x14 Vnose for 3400. Only reason i didn't get it was it had a crack in that top plastic and the trailer was black. Seemed like every used trailer I looked at that had one of those plastic caps had an issue. Was enough to scare me off. Might not matter. I never bought one so I can't really say how they hold up. Mine just has aluminum trip up there.
Sounds good. I'm about 15 mins from huntsville about 20 mins from the space and rocket center. We are heading down the culman to stoney Lonesome this weekend :)
