Holz Grill

I installed my Holz grill on my RZR last week. It looks awesome, but I have one gripe about it. What do I do with those ugly gold support tabs that came on there from the factory? When I am looking at the front of my RZR I can see those ugly things and it drives me nuts. Any thoughts? HOLZTECH please chime in...

Teddy

Sounds like you got one of the older version vents. Just trim the tab back about 1/4", but do not remove it.
the only difference between the "old" and "new" is the location of the rivet holes. Polaris changed the location of those gold colored tabs, so we had to change accordingly.
I was under the impression we didn't have any more of those "old" vents here- looks like I'm going to go check myself this time
If you havent installed it yet, I would gladly trade it out for a newer one if you like.

Re: Holz Grill

I ordered the vent from you about 2 weeks ago and received it about one week ago. I installed it the next day. It looks great, but those gold tabs drove me nuts. I called you guys today and talked to Matt. He told me to trim them down 1/4". I did it tonight and it took care of the problem. I can't see them now. The only thing I am worried about now is the hood flying off!!??

Pissed Re: Holz Grill

Well...I trimmed the gold tabs like Holz told me to and I'm not real happy with the results. Before I installed the grill my hood never flew off and since I have installed the Holz grill and trimmed the tabs its has flew off at least 10 times (in less than 2 weeks). The hood flew off 3 times tonight as a matter of fact. Any time I get my RZR above 55 MPH...POOF...the hood is GONE!

Now, I don't know the difference between the "old" style grilles and the "new" style grilles, but I am pretty upset. Not only am I out $55+ for the grill, I'm out however much for a new hood...since mine is scraped and scratched all to hell...and EVERY time I go out for a ride I check to make sure that the 3 plastic tabs on the bottom of the hood are seated in to the grooves in the front black plastic and that the gold metal tabs are supporting it, and of course that the black plastic tabs are locked in to place at the top.

About 45-50 MPH you can see the front of the hood starting to lift and at 55 MPH every time...POOF!

Needless to say...I am not very pleased right now!!

Re: Holz Grill

Did you try bending the gold tabs forward so it holds the front of the hood in place. I have the same Holz grill and really like it. I mounted mine up higher towards the hood line so the tabs would not show. As it is you dont really notice the tabs unless you look really hard. Looks similar to this from the Holz site RZR Gallery || Holz Racing Products

Yep, I made sure to bend the tabs into the front of the hood before every ride. My front grill looks similar to that picture as well, but since Holz gave me the "old" style grill and instructed me to trim the tabs, I can't keep the hood on it!!!!

I know right. I guess all you can do it laugh right now. After the first time it popped off, I was like o well...probably my fault. But after it popped off 3 times last night, that was the straw that broke the camels back. I wouldn't hate to think that I would have to resort to bungee cords and duct tape on a $10K toy.

And just found out that a new oem Polaris hood is $209. Its time for me to
