Acc terminal not working

A while back I was wired in my radio into the terminal block. I ran 12v and ground to their spots and tied into the acc to turn in one by the key just like you wore it in your truck. It worked for about 5 seconds. Turned out my radio was bad too. But now the acc doesn't work at all. The fuse is still good but I'm not getting any continuity from the fuse box to the terminal. My blue floor light doesn't work either. It's like I blew an in line fuse but I can't find one. I even have the skid plate off for maintenance and can't find a pinched or damaged spot on the wiring harness. Any ideas?

Re: Acc terminal not working

And for added complexity if I run a jumper from my terminal to the positive side of the battery my blue light comes on

Re: Acc terminal not working

The fuse is blown. Are you checking the correct one? I believe it is labeled "TERM", 10 amp. The blue light works when you back feed the circuit since the fuse is beyond the light when feeding in the reverse direction.

Are you wiring the radio correctly? The Acc terminal is designed to power on a relay when you turn on the key. The relay is then wired to get power from the battery cables on the block which supply the power to the light, radio, or other accessory. If you try to run your accessory directly through the Acc terminal, you can blow the fuse. It is only meant to trip a relay when the key is turned on. You may get away with a little more but that is not the intent of the design.

Re: Acc terminal not working

Have you tried a new fuse? Sometimes they are bad even when they look okay.

Re: Acc terminal not working

The fuse is not blown. And I'm pulling the fuse to check continuity. I've checked voltage again and I'm getting 12.5 volts at the fuse box but only 7.7 at the terminal.

Re: Acc terminal not working

Sounds like you may have burned the contact on the key switch. Seems to happen when people overload the acc terminal.

Whenever wiring accessories always protect them and your machine by using additional fuses and relays.

Here's my wiring setup.

Re: Acc terminal not working

I think I'm going to splice into the wire close to the fuse box and run a new wire. The thing about it is that the only thing I had hooked up to it was the acc wire for the radio.

Re: Acc terminal not working

My ACC terminal stopped working also. The wire lost continuity somewhere right after it made the bend around the gas tank in the harness. I ended up splicing a new wire and double heat shrinking it to get it working again.

Have you had any more issues with it since?

No.

Without completely removing the harness, I'm pretty sure the wire insulation had a pinhole in it near the tank area, and it corroded until it lost continuity.

Re: Acc terminal not working

I fixed my problem but I feel a little foolish. The acc terminal says acc on the fire wall and the acc on the wire so I assumed that the acc fuse supplied that wire. Made since to me. But as it turns out it's the fuse marked term that feeds the terminal and acc feeds the 12v port on the dash. Explains why I had no continuity. Lol

Re: Acc terminal not working

Post 3 says to check the "TERM" fuse. Mentioned it because you are not the first person to check the wrong fuse. It's easy to do.

Re: Acc terminal not working

I know this is an old thread but I am having the same issue, ACC terminal not working and both fuses ACC and Term have been checked, double checked, changed to new once and still no V in the ACC terminal.
What else can I check?
