Lift Kits

I've noticed that the 2" lift kits seem to be popular with the "Semi-Stock" riders like me. My question:
With the higher center of Gravity (COG) are you more prone to tipping?
I'm running 2" spacers to give me more stability but would rather I didn't have to preload to 5 on the springs and shocks. I'm thinking a 2" lift and then back down to 3 on the preload. Any thoughts on this combination?
John

Re: Lift Kits

2 inch lift with 1.5 inch spacers 3rd up on shocks more stable on and off
trails, not bottoming out on every little rock or bump.
and less mud in cab.

Re: Lift Kits

Simple physics says that any height increase with no width increase will raise the COG. Therefore the tipping or rollover will occur at a lower g-force. Having stated the obvious, I will say that most riders are reporting no HUGE safety factor in doing a lift without a long-travel kit. I also think that you could leave the spacers, put a 2" lift on and lower your spring preload to the second position. That is how I run mine due to trail width restrictions. Only upgrade I look to make it better is some AFCO shocks! I hear they are the shiznit!

Re: Lift Kits

Are you running spacers for the width or for tire clearance?

Re: Lift Kits

Thanks for the input guys, I think I will put in a set. Are the spacers keeping you from getting thru the gates?
What kit would you recommend,
John

Thumbs up Re: Lift Kits

I have a 52" clearance restriction on the trails around my cabin in Utah. By far the best kit is made by Rubberdown! IMHO, he has the best customer service and a product that is bomb-proof. Other guys will say theirs is better or stronger or whatever, but Rubberdown is as strong as any out there and definately stronger than the parts it attaches to. Plus it weighs less, if that matters to you.

Re: Lift Kits

M91, do you have any claerance on your 52" gate. Where are you riding in Utah? I have some land around Cedar City and run 2" spacers.
I don't know what my width is right now but i bought the spacers to remove if required to get where I need to.

Re: Lift Kits

I have a couple of inches on each side, maybe less. I just know I fit. The Dept. of Forestry may not make the width exactly 52", I don't know. I do know that Rangers, Rhino's, ect... don't fit. That's the purpose of the gates. Another reason why the RZR ROCKS!
