PRC forum

Anyone ever read the RZR forum on www.prcforum.com ?? There are a handfull of people with their RZR's going in for new motors, rings, pistons, etc. all of which seem to be blaming the air filter failing. Thought it was odd I dont see that on here.

Re: PRC forum

Ya, I read PRCforum daily. The Air box is a real problem. I was at my dealer yesterday and my dealers Demo RZR engine seized up due to sand and dirt getting past the filter. Their waiting on a new engine. I’m a little concerned about mine since I saw dust past my filter in the intake tube. I was using a K&N and made the parts guy give me a UNI to replace it. I don’t feel too bad since I only had 20 hrs on it and the oil looked new. They did the air box fix (just a band aid in my opinion). Before the next dusty season I will add some additional filtration. Either a snorkel or just another filter inside the intake behind the seats.

There are a lot of us out here with these first machines off the assembly line that have legitimate issues and are getting little direction from either the factory or the dealers in regards to them. I excpect things to bend and break on a first year machine....I don't expect the very same very well documented problems that Yamaha had involving simple engineering of the damn intake...which led to the very same catastrophic problems that we've been witnessing to date.

"Band-aid" something like a hole in the safety nets..

ENGINEER things like an airbox where we can easily tighten the damn hose clamp on the filter or an intake boot that doesn't fall off making the previous fix mute.(I could get into why in the heck Holz is selling strengthening products...but actuallly, those are the type of things that I can live with if the aftermarket indeed steps up to provide them instead of simply 'promising' to do so and pushing out 'billet OS Bars' instead).

Try posting that on the prcforum....

Re: PRC forum

btw, my last comment wasn't meant to slam the prcforum...only to point out that there's a lot more talk now being 'allowed' regarding frame flex on the Rzr than there was some months ago when some of us 'dared' question what happened at Antelope Valley the very first time out (we started a thread about the need to damn well gusset these things...and, well...let's just say that 'blackballed' got just that).

Regardless, Gary's a super good guy who has (maybe wisely) chosen to please the masses and I encourage any of you to use the search function there to solve many of your first-year problems.(hope I can say that)
