Rock crawling with the RZR

Does the RZR rock crawl good? How does the AWD work on the RZR? I'm thinking of getting the RZR for some serious redrock style crawling and concerned about not having a way to lock the front diff before the back wheels have to slip.

Other than that, the RZR looks to be a great all around performer.

BTW, great forum.

Re: Rock crawling with the RZR

I went to Moab UT a couple weeks ago with my RZR and it worked awesome! I went with 4 Rhino's and I seemed to climb better than them. I never noticed a lag in the front end locking up. It climbed like it was always locked up, but it was always easy to steer like it was'nt locked. (We did a lot of 3 wheeling so I would have noticed if it wasnt locking fast) The only problem i had was hitting bottom because of the low clearance. Lift it a little and it will be perfect. Oh and i left both sway bars hooked up too. It would probably do even better with one disconected.

Re: Rock crawling with the RZR

We were in Calico last weekend with a Stock RZR and a built LT Rhino. The RZR went everywhere the Rhino went rockcrawling and when it came to dirt roads and high end the RZR walked on the Rhino. I can't wait to get mine!!!

I went out with some friends who were doin the jeep thing. They gave me greif about being able to go between stuff they were going over. The RZR did great as long as the skid pan didn't drag.

Re: Rock crawling with the RZR

I'd invest in a set of these from Holz (minimum) ATV || Holz Racing Products as some of the other manufacturers have let us down in their earlier promise of strengthening products for this relatively weak frame and some of these components attached to it.

I hope that I can even 'say' such a thing here on the rzrforum...as I was quickly kicked off of a major forum for daring to suggest such a thing to some very rabid Polaris bobbleheads . (btw, I've had a Rhino since day one and now own 2 Polaris'; incl. the Rzr).

Re: Rock crawling with the RZR

We had on RZR with us on our Rubicon run in July. Only problem it had was ground clearance.
