Is it common for '08 RZR's to use oil

I had to add some oil to mine. I was wondering if that is common.

Afraid it is common, but not good. Rarely does it stop on it's own, and it can get worse real quick. Monitor it closely, but if you find your adding half a qt. at a time it's time to look further. I ran 2000 miles never used a bit, then it started little here and there. Then once it needed a half qt after 50 miles. Tested it and eventually found it had an oil ring stuck/collapsed. Polaris covered this one under the 08 deal.

(Can't seem to paste it here, wtf)

I got it in with two weeks to go on mine, might be worth looking into sooner than later!

I’ve not heard of anyone else having this so hopefully it was a freak occurrence. While I’d never seen any sign of dust past my stock filters I was well aware of the known problem of these early model needing top ends replaced so much so that Polaris had added 18 months to all Rzrs built before September 2, 2008 if caused by dust intrusion.
After jumping thru the proverbial hoops, Polaris gave the OK to rebuild. During the teardown it was found that an oil ring was stuck in the groove not expanding as needed.
Never noticed a drop in performance, was just concerned it was getting worse.
With that being done and the warranty over with for me, the stock air box is history.
