Just something to think about .........

I'm also street legal in Arizona - And cannot run the streets in Oregon ......... No DOT tires and no full windshield with safety glass and no windshield wiper.

For what it's worth .............
Montana does allow off road tires they do not have to be DOT. tires. Irun my quad all over town and down the hiway. there are a lot of ATV's and UTV's run all over town and hiways.

Re: Montana Street Legal

do you see many atvs or utvs on the streets in montana? i don't mind trying to get away with my az plates on the streets of montana, but if you rarely see atvs or utvs on streets i don't think i would want to push my luck. down here in lake havasu city, arizona. there's utv's everywhere on the streets and not unusual to see a utv in a fast food drive thru or a lowes parking lot, so i don't think the cops really pay to much attention to utvs in arizona since there everywhere

jwebguy;
there is still to much snow to make the loop around Red loin MT. and Rumsey MT. to the Seven Gabbles un less you have a snowmobile or tracks I made that trip with my quad with the tracks on it a couple of yeras ago in the snow. they told me when I bought the tracks that they would go where snowmobles could go and more, well I went with a friend with his snowmobile we stopped at Racetack lake (we were on the groomed trail to this point) so my friend took off across the lake, and I started to follow, I ended up 6 feet down in the powdered snow that was the last time I tried to follow him in the powdered snow. The trip is not recimended this early in the year. Maybe June?

Yes there are a lot of ATV"s and UTV"s rding on the roads here, I ride mine to town all of the time in the summerI can either ride the main road or take the back roads and trails.
You do have to have and OFF HIWAY tag as well as the street legal to go in to the back woods here. Because the forest roads are listed as Montana hiways but when you get back into the back roads and trails then you need the off road sticker

Re: Montana Street Legal

June, that's kind of what I figured. I think Georgetown Lake was still frozen last Memorial Day? Funny about your tracks, I bet that was a lot of work getting it back on the trail.

Re: Montana Street Legal

I just licensed my Rzr in MT on Wed. The basic requirements were lights, reflectors, horn and mirror. No mention of windshield (but I'd suggest goggles or glasses without one) and low pressure tires were okay.

As mentioned, check into the reciprocity of the OHV sticker issue. The plate only covers you on the roads, not any trails.

I drive my RZRS around Helena MT all the time. My boys fight about who gets to be droped off at school in it.

Re: Montana Street Legal

I live in kalispell mt, montana is lax, lax, lax when it comes to atv's/utv's becoming street legal (atleast up here in kalispell.) i drive my rzr on the street all the time. you just need a rear view mirror, a horn, and a llicense plate (unless you are planning on driving at night then you need blinkers.) i see atv's/utv's on the street all the time here.

I have land just up the road from you.
My parents live close to you. My home town was Missoula.
Wish I was there sometimes. I've thought about bringing my RZR
next trip. Wonder if a person could get a temp tag for the streets.
Better yet I'll just take my dad's motorcycle plate off and use them.

I talked to the Sheriff here in Philipsburg about people comming to visit for a couple days or a week, as long as they obay the laws, he has told his deputys that it would be OK to drive on the streets and to go up on the back roads and trails, as long as they have thier off road sticker from thier own state. I am not sure about other Countys in the State?
