Re: air cleaner problem

I would rather have the engine and air cleaner behind me anyday than have it up under the cheeks of my booty like the Rhino

Re: air cleaner problem

I bought mine in march of 2008. My filter had a nylon prefilter over the paper filter, witch i dont think does a bit of good. We did a 90 mile with the local club so it was very dusty no mater how far we hung back, next day cleaned the air box whitch was full of dirt and dust. There was so much dirt on the filter it filled up the folds. This is probably the worst design i think i'v seen. I rode my 2002 sportsman on this same ride and there was'nt even a 10th of dirt and dust in it. So it does'nt look like polaris has fixed any thing. I knew about the problems with the earlyer Gens. but was told it was fixed, aparently not.

Sounds like you have a worse-than-most dust problem.
Does your access panel & gasket fit tight to the frame behind it? When I got my 1st gen I had dust that bad & it was due to the panel door not being sealed. Dust comes up thru the gap & gets 'sniffed' right into the intake slot. Also make sure the canister lid is installed right with the tab at the top snapped into the socket. The last spot where that much dust can enter the canister is the seal between the intake duct and the canister.

Re: air cleaner problem

I have a gen3. I have been checking my clamps and found them to be always tight. I have found small river rock in my air box. I have placed a piece of screen over the inlet by the seats to see if that will help. I also wipe a thin coat of grease on the in side of the air box which does help and gets alot of the dust. Has any one tryed the Polaris foam filter?

.Mine is brand new, April 15th 08, got 25hrs and 150 miles. same airbox issues, now im burning oil 1/2 qt 5hrs. taking to dealer next weekend. lets see if they fix the motor? i will gladly join your cause for lawsuit. they need to fix the airbox. not make it our problem. even if they replace my motor it will just happen again. i'll be in touch with the number you provided. I like what you said earlier about people complain but never do shit about it. that’s everything that is wrong with our society today. that’s why our governments walks all over us. people have become such pussies over the last few decades

Re: air cleaner problem

Well, this pussie is driving his pussie ass back to dealership this morning to talk with owner.I gotta feeling that is a waste of time but. Then I will call Polaris Customer service which is probably another waste of time. Then I will be calling the lawyer( even if they decide to give me a new motor )so my airbox problem is documented. It is a problem gentlemen.I know we could suck it up and fix with aftermarket shit (which is what I usually do to everything I buy anyway)but this is a fix that needs to happen before you drive it period!!!

Re: air cleaner problem

Well dealership called me back with bad news.Said polaris is not even discussing the airbox problem that the dealership has been noting all along. They say its not warranteed because I built a snorkel.Thats it end of discussion.7 hours after I leave the dealership because its using oil still to go on a ride i here it getting louder on the top end again(3rd time in 50 hours)and then seizes.NO WARRANTEE.

my one and only take on this post.....john

also a note rzr freak's only post is this topic.

also in the wrong area as in a person with little rzr experiance.

dosnt seem to know a thing about his rzr but! is a expert on the air box.(even thought he called it a air cleaner as in car...)

every one posting something but praise his next post was to get a hold of him for the action
as they say if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck , and looks like one , it must be.....

and if your dealer is your best sorce of input , id love to see a real polaris dealer testify in court for you....lol can you say ex dealer? not going to happen . you need hard printed facts from polaris stating that they are aware of this problem, and also stating dont fix it under warnty or also stating to tell the customer we wont fix it.....also remember, alot of dealers are independt stores not run or controlled by polaris....so your dealer may be stating his own personal shop rules....not polaris.
