Anyone having experience with Chicago Winch from Harbor Freight

Looking to see if they were easy enough to install, and how they are working. I'm looking at using one mostly for my snow plow, but the occasional elk lifting would be likely. Doubt I'd be pulling myself out in my lifetime as I don't drive in mud for the most part. The plowing will be just at my home most likely.

Re: Anyone having experience with Chicago Winch from Harbor Freight

May work for very light duty, but you generally get wht you pay for. Most of the harbor frieght powered tools are lower quality and less power. I had a come along from there which brock the welds on the wire drum while under tension and way less than the rated limit, i almost lost a leg as it went flying past me.

Re: Anyone having experience with Chicago Winch from Harbor Freight

I picked up a very lightly used warn winch of a forum member for $100. Just be patient and look often or get a viper.

I just got the Promark 3000 XTR came with mount and synthetic line. Lifted my RZR with it to install the skids. I like it. Under $200

Re: Anyone having experience with Chicago Winch from Harbor Freight

i've never heard of viper but the prices seem super reasonable (cheap!!) these winches hold up nicely compared to warn?

also, anyone have any experience with the winch(s) that are offered with the RZR? there are two options on the site when i build the machine and one is 449 and 649 (i believe)... what makes these so special or is it just a mark up from the factory?

great thread BTW
