Gas Mileage

Have a 2010 RZR LE with no performance mods, bone stock. I went riding this weekend and managed to get 50 miles on a tank of gas. NO hard or fast riding mostly about 15-20 on wooded trails.

This is only the second time I have rode the RZR since purchased brand new in October of 2009. Just wanted to see if that was about right for a RZR. I had a Ranger XP before and could get about 120 miles on a tank, granted it was a 9 gallon tank instead of 7.5.

So is it normal to only get about 50 miles on tank based on the type of riding? The fuel light started to flash and I could see the bottom of tank when I opened it up.

Thanks.

Re: Gas Mileage

Unless I'm really pushing it, I can get 100 miles out of a tank.

Re: Gas Mileage

To be honest 50 miles is not much at all. I get better than that regularly.

Re: Gas Mileage

Not sure if it's the same as the older models, but I can usually squeeze an extra 1 1/2 to 2 gallons of gas in my tank if spend the extra 10 minutes or so letting the tank burp when I'm filling it.
From 0 to 1 bar on my guage I only get 4 1/2 to 5 gallons tops if I don't burp the tank.
I think I am right around 100 miles on a full tank.

I was thinking the same thing because when I filled it up before I left once the gas reached the neck I was done. But when I filled up at the after riding on the trail I got a little over a gallon in once it reached the neck and I let it settle.

Any reason why the machine would get such poor mileage?

Re: Gas Mileage

Were you in low gear alot, this will reduce milage. If not slipping clutch belt or engine problems like a stuck injector.

Re: Gas Mileage

I get around 10 mpg. Same as my snowmobile. More on the throttle faster gasoline goes, I'm sure that is fresh info. : (

Re: Gas Mileage

100 miles on a tank? wow, thats the best i ever heard of! Mostly A rzr will get 10mpg at best, a S a little less,( 7.2 gallons 72 miles) but i bet it wasn't full, when you gas these things up it will fill to the neck, then if you shake the rollbar you can watch it go down, it will take a gallon or more if you keep doing this. Also dont put much in the flashing low fuel light it starts when most times you still have a few gallons left. The only way to truly check your mpg is to completely fill it to the top after much shaking then set the trip meter and at the end of the day fill it again and do the math.

Re: Gas Mileage

Yeah I noticed it will go down when it reaches the neck and you can keep putting fuel in it.

I was in high all day no low range. Seemed kinda low, but figured I would just check here and see what's up.

Re: Gas Mileage

I've got a 2010 LE myself, and think that sounds about right. Like others have said, filling the tank all the way takes time and a little work. I've found mine also starts flashing, and like you mentioned looks to be empty a long time before it actually quits. Trail riding I've killed a tank in just under 50 miles, and on forest service roads, mostly high range I've gotten just shy of 100 miles on a tank.

Not to hijack a thread, but how is everyone carrying their spare fuel? I just strap a can to the bed, but find that doesn't work very well. Is anyone having luck finding cans that fit the polaris mount? What other good options are there?
