military rzr?

I saw in a mag a while back that polaris was maybe going to build a military spec rzr. My question is i said that it had a differant diff in it and would go about 70, does anyone no which diff tthis is. I think it was unlockable, that would make it more manuverable.

Re: military rzr?

I'm pretty sure the RZRs sold in the UK already have that kind of differential. Seems like I read that they have a turf switch.. When this switch is on the rear isn't locked allowing you to make turns without eating up your yard.. If thats true I'm not sure why we don't have them here.. I would LOVE a switch for this for in the yard or even just on tight turns in trails..

Re: military rzr?

yes.. the international version is street legal.. the open rear diff is what lets them work well on the street. i dont think the diff is as rugged as a straight through like we have..
if you want that diff, you can order it from the dealer, i'm not sure but i think it uses a different passenger side axle.

Re: military rzr?

A rear Diff you could lock or unlock. Thats what I want. It sure would make rzr handle better. Than lock it in when you need it. Where do you get one? and how much?

Re: military rzr?

Awhile back (before the RZR) Polaris was developing a Ranger for the military. It was powered by a desiel that would burn anything including jet fuel. If I recall it was adaptable for most types of firepower including missle launchers. There was photos but haven't heard anything about the smaller frame of the RZR.

Re: military rzr?

i thought someone posted pics on here a few months back of a polaris defense rzr?

the rangers and some sportsmans have a turf mode which allows them to cut down to power at 1 wheel.

Re: military rzr?

You will have to call a dealer on getting a price for the differential. I have a feeling buying a complete new differential is pretty expensive..

My UK RZR (gen 3 08) is identical to the US one. The RZR S is identical too.

However, you can also get a street legal RZR S which has all the lights and stuff and you can register it as a car. I suspect - but have never 100% confirmed - that this has the switchable diff. I would ask my dealer or Polaris UK but I'm not sure they've worked out their ass from their face yet. On the RZR parts listings there is the "international S" which has all the parts for the lights, but also the different looking diff.

I'm still waiting for somebody to manufacture a turf mode diff for my regular RZR...
