Re: i think i have a problem here

You just pop the axle out, pull the seal. You don't lose the oil. I would clean it up a little before you pull it apart, but that's just me.

Re: i think i have a problem here

johnny, if you dont know already you dont need to pull the lower control arm.
take off the wheel, take the top outer control arm bolt, raise the arm up out of the way, pop the axle out, and just pull on the wheel, it will swing down, you dont have to undo the shock or nothing the axle will pop out and go right past everything. i did a pair a couple of months ago, took about 20 minutes

Are these popo part numbers or is it aftermarket. I need to do the same thing. I didnt know there was an upgrade. Mine dont leak that bad I have never had to add oil but its just enough to have dirt sticking to it.

Re: i think i have a problem here

Not a bad idea to pick up two seals. I f%#$ed my first one up then had to go back and pick up another. If you do get it right the first time you'll have a spare.

Re: i think i have a problem here

Thanks John, what could cause the spring to "jump" out of the seal. The seal does not look damaged otherwise and spring was still intact but on pinion shaft.

Re: i think i have a problem here

Yep the bearings look good and very little play in them. Also diff oil had very little in the way of metal in it, only wear metal from armature plate on magnetic plug (and i hate to admit it but never changed front diff oil for last 1300 miles)
