Rzr must haves/best additions.
Hey guys.
So I'm buying a new rzr here in a few weeks when the army rotates me back home, what mods, would you guys do? I'm trying to pick up some of the heavier parts, while I'm here in AZ, as apposed to AK....
Suspension,
Walker Evans, I ride an Elka equipped TRX250R, so I already know the stock RZR suspension, isn't going to be ok with me.
Saftey
Adding either 3 points like the Crow, or 4 points, what brand would you suggest?
Lights, I think I'm going to go with this light bar
POLARIS RANGER RZR TECTONIC LIGHT HOOP - POLARIS RZR LIGHTS AND ACCESSORIES - POLARIS RZR
I do alot of night riding, and this is going to be a hunting rig, so its getting HID lights from UTV Crap, the Xenarc pair, plus an HID kit for the head lights.
Planning on running the Pre-runner bumper, the factory rear bumper, and full body skid plate.
Anything I'm forgetting?

Re: Rzr must haves/best additions.
You might want to go with lights on the pre runner front bumper if you are a Arakansas trail rider,"The first branch you hit will tear that light bar right off". The stearing bushings on ebay are the bomb. I had to take a drenel and sand out the bushings a little because they were to snug but once you get them set up right these babys will make your stearing wheel as tight as a car wheel and you can put greese between them for lifelong lubericant. For a beer cooler I got a old 17 inch metal igloo off ebay with the metal hinges, handles and metal latch and use rubber straps to fasten it in. "You won't lose your beer or cooler lid with this set up. They run about $30 to $50 with shipping on ebay. The first tree you hit with your front tire will break your hollow stearing rod just take the rods off and go to the local machine shop and have them replicate them with solid stock useing your original threads."About $120 dollars and a sure fix. These razors are too soft on the suspension and set to low on the ground so I put a 2" lift and 1.5" spacers in the rear and 1" spacers in front and I belive these things should come factory set up like this. Man what a better rideing machine.

Re: Rzr must haves/best additions.
Get a witch first. Wheels and tires are great but sometimes your right foot gets you in trouble, witch will get you out, tires might dig you to China. Lights, I mounted lights in each fender well and aimed them out over the tires, looks cool at night plus beneficial when going over the rough stuff. Need storage, read threads from here and decide on storage items. Like hellrazor said, must have beer storage..........

Re: Rzr must haves/best additions.
Yea a winch is a major asset, I got on ebay and got the Viper max 4500lb and I can not say enough about this $318 winch kit shipped to your door. It comes with everything, synthetic rope.RZR mounting kit, two controlers, ONE IN THE CAB AND ONE THAT PLUGS IN FOR OUTSIDE THE CAB USE WITH A CORD", its waterproof, and the fabrecation looks to me like it is built better than a warn and it is for sure a better price. I have only had mine for about a month but I do know this if you hook this winch to anything one of two things are going to happen. Either someone is coming out or something is coming apart. I think the big winch companies perfected the winches and in the past couple of years the off brand companies have replicated these winches and are selling them for a fair price. Oh yea don't get the champion winch at sams club it's a piece. I have had a couple of warns over the years and they are a good lasting winch but both of mine eventualy striped a gear which wasn't a problem the problem was paying the high price for the replacement gear. "MAN I ALMOST COULD HAVE BOUGHT HALF THE WINCH,"

Re: Rzr must haves/best additions.
Thanks guys, I should have said I've got a Warn XT40, we're going to fab up a mount for the front of the Pre-runner or whatever front bumper I get.
Can't ever have too much light, or too much winch.
Found a deal on Elka shocks today, 1400 for basic piggy backs, rebound and compression, or 1700 for the rebound compression and preload's...Since I was figuring on 1700 for the Walker Evans, I think I'll just go for the delux Elka's. They've done me well on the 250R
Vern, I'll give you a call, we'll have to get a ride in after I get back.

Re: Rzr must haves/best additions.
I have a warran/polaris 3,500 and no complaints, has the rope and switch with a cord. I pulled a sportsman 800 stuck and myself out, he hook to the back of my razor and I hooked to a tree, popped out like nothing.

Re: Rzr must haves/best additions.
Hey F7 Im not trying to say the warn is not a good winch I just don't the ass reaming you get when you purchase one of them like yours is $450 to $500 and has 1000lb less pull than my $318 Viper with synthetic rope and steel gears. Oh and when you need a part for that warn well you better have some K Y jelly on hand because their going to get you good.

Re: Rzr must haves/best additions.
Get the Overfenders flares on ebay.....best money I've spent so far.. About $200 after shipping, easy install, and no more mud covered neck!

I agree with ya, BUT I only paid 350 for mine and it does have the rope vrs. the cable in it. So far so good. Why isn't waran a good winch? or not?

Re: Rzr must haves/best additions.
Some kind of an aftermarket skid plate too. I've got about 50 not so rough miles on mine and took a rock through the factory plastic skid into the engine / tranny area. Cracked the housing, oil leaking, and now its in the shop, and I'm exploring my skid plate options....

Re: Rzr must haves/best additions.
I can now see that the mods will eventually exceed the price of the RZR. I want everything I hear here. Here here!

Warn is a good winch just pricey to purchase and pricy to fix!

I agree 100%. If you are going to take the RZR off road, decent skid plates should be your first purchase and the OEM skids are a joke. Too much valuable stuff right above those stock skids... Next I'd probably go with a 4 point harness
