Re: pics of intakes

I used the one from EHS racing. I really like the setup and seems to do well. Not too mention the guys there are super nice to work with.

Re: pics of intakes

I'm thinking about relocating my DFR airbox to the right side of the bed. I'm just wondering if the added length of the tubing will be an issue and cause more air resistance since the air will have a greater distance to travel now before reaching the engine? (3" tubing is being used)

If this works then one of the Baldwin or Donaldson style air boxes could be used at a lot less cost than the DFR unit.

The reason I'm thinking about relocating the box is because I don't like the way it mounts in the engine bay.

Let me know what you guys think.

Re: pics of intakes

Im relocating my filter housing up on the roll bar behind the drivers seat. that way i still have my vission and my storge. I plan on piping through the plastic behind driver seat. I also plan on piping through the engine inspection cover for clutch snorkle. this way i dont have to go through the cargo bed and i can put it back to stock without much cost. the ehs is cool but not good for mistakes crossing deep water hole area's.

txmd500 that looks good. I like your air inlet tube what is it made out of. looking at your seat in the pic i might not have enough room for pipe to run behind the drivers seat and than up next to seat belt area. I need to keep as much cargo area as i can. I dont think you will have trouble with resistance. looks like it will flow more that way.

Re: pics of intakes

MDEvens, The straight tubing is aluminum the 90-Degree piece is aluminized steel, the connectors are silicon hump couplers they allow up to 20-degrees of flex.

I too would/need to keep as much cargo area as possible, with the way it sits now I would only lose the drivers side storage area in the bed, the Polaris lock and ride box will still fit.

Here's a few more photos.

Re: pics of intakes

couldent you run it up higher and make a bracket and bolt it to the roll bar. this way you only give up 3 inch's of storage.also i would pipe a clutch snorkle and make a removable exhaust tip that takes the exhaust up a little higher.

Re: pics of intakes

Brownale Nice setup. I think I see ABS fitting and a fernco coupling, but what is the box that the filter is in @ the top? Thats the kinda setup I was thinking about. What airfilter did you use? I may go up the side of my cage and just leave a truck/jeep filter with a pre filter near the top of the cage.

TMXD500 that is cool also. Where do you get a Hump coupler?

Re: pics of intakes

Ah, that's how many miles are on it now. I haven't seen it in so long I had no idea it had gotten that high.

The box on top is the stock air intake box. Once you take the bed off you have this box for the CVT and air filter can to connect to.

It's all ABS and a rubber coupler to go from 1.5" to 2" diameter. I picked a K&N that would fit in the air intake box by dimensions.

Re: pics of intakes

I swear by the Grumpy Intake with the K&N Panel Filter between the seats and a K&N in the airbox itself. The airbox filter requires little maintenance with the K&N Panel Filter on the intake end doing most the work. Here's a link to the original thread, a lot of folks have gone this route since.....
