Has anyone have the small oil level plug on the transfer case strip out? This is the one that needs a 1/2" socket to remove and is hard to get to. The plug has 3/8 NF thread and the thread is about 1/4" long. This is on a 2009 Razor.
I was lucky that the oil level was about 1/2 of an oil plug diameter high thus oil was draining out which would flush the metal filings out from the stripped thread. Also I was carefull to clean the area.
I have been carefull tightening this plug since the casing is Aluminum. Anyway the hole is about 3/4" long and threaded all the way thru. I can hand screw a 3/8" NF bolt thru the hole. Can a person get a new plug that has about 5/8" long thread area? Only the first 1/4" is stripped? Right now I have a 3/8 bolt with and O ring on it till I find out what to do.
It is still under warrenty and I will be talking to the Polaris dealer where I purchased it.
