Touchy Throttle Fix?
I replaced the spring with the heavier one, wrapped tape around the cable roller and it's still tough to manage (rock climbing). Any ideas? Just got back from Moab, it was great, but needs a lift too!

ScottCo,
Who did u get the heavier spring from? When compared to the stock spring, could u tell any difference?
Reason for asking... I've taped roller also welding 2 pieces of angle iron to original stock pedal arm, thus added about 1/4 to 1/2" preload to spring. Biggest change was removing stock pedal w/spring and replace with a flat non movable pedal set at a different angle. Bart

Re: Touchy Throttle Fix?
I got the spring on Ebay. Basically it just is wound tighter and maybe a little heavier wire. It helped a little, but not what I was expecting. What pedal are you using?

Re: Touchy Throttle Fix?
Most people complain about the throttle being touchy as they ride fast over bumpy trails. This shouldn't be the case when rock crawling. What problem are you having?

Re: Touchy Throttle Fix?
It seems to be all or nothing. Especially in the rocky stuff.

Re: Touchy Throttle Fix?
Best way I've found is to rest the right side of your foot on the ridge next to the gas pedal for stability. Then roll your foot onto the gas pedal.

Re: Touchy Throttle Fix?
If you do lots of slow technical riding like rock crawling you might want to do some work to the clutch so it engages just off idle and upshifts much slower to give you more control.

Re: Touchy Throttle Fix?
The best way to fix the touchy throtle and the cheapest is to buy a 1.50 cent sponge and put it under your peddel, it works great, no jumping just a smothe peddel.

This sounds like what I want. How does one do that? Is there a kit?

I like this better, do you use one thick enough to stay or attach it somehow?

Re: Touchy Throttle Fix?
Even on a Gen 3 with the heaver factory spring I still find I have to do the same thing as Rubidude, rest the side of my foot on the center righe.

ScottCO, As I said earlier, I used stock pedal arm, just stiffened it up a bit, but the biggest change was getting rid of the stock pedal w/the spring. I found that this just made the problem worse because of the tilting motion. As I did was remove the plastic foot piece w/spring, cut a smaller foot out of aluminum and JB welded it in place. The replacement foot is about 1" shorter and set at the same angle as the stock. So far it appears to be working and I have clutch kit that engages at about 1800 rpm, much higher than stock. If you do much rock crawling, you should check with EPI. They seem to know quite a bit about dialing in a RZR for specific needs. If not try the sponge, heck if it doesn't work on the pedal, you can always use it to wash with.
If you're interested, I could try to post a pic of what I've done.
At any rate, GOOD LUCK, Bart
