Rear view mirror: Bad design
Just got the Polaris rear view mirror. I was surprised that it uses a sticky pad to hold the mirror to the mount. the mirror is heavy enough that I don't see it holding for more than one ride. Not sure why polaris designed it like this. Any thoughts?

Re: Rear view mirror: Bad design
I agree and what's with the EPOXY they send with the kit? Guess that glues it back on after the original fails!

Ya, wierd how the epoxy was with it and no instructions as to what its for. I actually tried that first instead of the sticky pad, let it sit overnight with a clamp, and the next morning it broke apart as I tried to install everything. I put the sticky pad on now and its held solid for a good week, go figure. But I've been riding in some pretty bumpy stuff and the mirror is working fine so far. If the sticky pad fails, I think JB weld is next. One thing I didn't realize is that the mirror does pivot, mine had to be broken lose at the pivot point.

Re: Rear view mirror: Bad design
What do you expect for $50? Do you have any problems with the throttle? Going over bumps is a lot of fun! Very soft spring.

Re: Rear view mirror: Bad design
If you don't mind a plastic mirror like the one on your car or truck you can find a convex boat mirror at boat supply stores or eBay. There's one there now for $10 (Item number: 270157033347)
You'll need to figure a way to mount it. 1.75" tube clamps aren't real common but a $2 pipe clamp comes darn close:
It's a loose fit on the roll cage but wrap a strip of innertube around it and it's snug and won't mar the paint.

Re: Rear view mirror: Bad design
I intended this to be a temporary mount until I get around to making a light bar to which I will also mount the mirror. Maybe I'll never "improve" it
Didn't need to drill any holes in the Rzr. Mounts with 1 small bolt & is solid. $14 from Autozone.
