Throttle freeplay adjustment

Guys i looked in the manual at the throttle freeplay adjustment it says lossen the lock nut and turn thr adjuster until you achive the correct freeplay, well which way do you turn the adjuster? I turned it counter clockwise as i was standing on the drivers side, adjusted a little bit no real difference in the freeplay any suggestions

I can't remember without looking at it but I do remember I had to turn mine over 1/4" to get to 1/8" freeplay at the pedal end of the cable so just turn it in the counterclockwise direction but alot farther this time. If it gets more slack in the cable turn it the other way instead. It made quite a difference on my RZR.

Re: Throttle freeplay adjustment

Just did mine. Counterclockwise is more play, clockwise is less. As you turn it clockwise when you get to a certain point you will feel the throttle pick up or just watch your rpm's if your hard at hearing.

One thing I noticed after I adjusted mine.....I've never heard the rev limiter before!!!
Should I leave it like this or back it down a little. I have almost no play now in my throttle ped. Then again 1/16" ain't much.

Re: Throttle freeplay adjustment

It is supposed to be 1/16" - 1/8" so you're good, but if you want a little more free play then add a little but don't over do it, you'll not be getting full throttle if you do!

Re: Throttle freeplay adjustment

This is really tickin me off. I'll set me throttle freeplay to almost nothing and by the time I slide that boot back over and put my seats back in and go to drive it,it's completely back to where I started.....too much play and bouncy as hell. Am I doing something wrong? Should I maybe look into one of those springs?

Re: Throttle freeplay adjustment

I just got my 2014 xp1000 out of the shop and it was idling high at 1400-1500. I looked at these threads and couldn't find it in my shop manual, so I called back the shop. They said there was no an adjustment and it was electronically controlled at the peddle and you can reset the computer idle by turning the key to ON for 1 minute... then turn it OFF for 3 minutes... then start it up and it should reset. It didn't right away but I took it around the block to warm it up and the idle went back to 1200.
