Death of the RZR-4 and Predictions for 2015 Lineup

What I know:

-Polaris only came out with one color XP4 900 for 2014. And one color for the RZR-4 800. They have like 8 colors on the 800's alone. Very unusual for them... and suspicious.
-Dealers here are blowing XP4 900's out for $16k plus fees. Polaris must be offering incentives or discounts to dealers to clear inventory.
-Local Dealer's craigslist ads are saying "get them while you can", "you've been warned" etc.

So with these facts I have a theory that Polaris is getting rid of the RZR-4/XP4 chassis as we know it and soon. Possibly coming out with a de-tuned version of the XP1K 4 door chassis soon is my guess.

So if that holds true, I would bet that we will see a de-tuned version of the 1000 2 door as well.

My predictions for 2015 Polaris RZR lineup OPTION A:

RZR 570 (no change)
RZR 900 50" (new model, 800/900 hybrid chassis with reworked trailing arms & front suspension, to be 50" wide)
RZR-S 900 (new name but basically the same as todays '14 RZR 900)
RZR 1000 (new model MSRP $17999, same platform as XP1000 but w/ cheaper shocks, solid color seats, cheaper tires/wheels, normal headlights, nets instead of doors)
RZR XP 1000 (no changes from '14 model)

RZR 4 1000 (new model, msrp $19999, same platform as XP 4 1000 but w/ cheaper shocks, solid color seats, cheaper tires/wheels, normal headlights, nets instead of doors)
RZR XP 4 1000 (4 new colors but no other changes)

My predictions for 2015 Polaris RZR lineup OPTION B: (same but w/ 900 engines in 1000 chassis)

RZR 570 (no change)
RZR 900 50" (new model, 800/900 hybrid chassis with reworked trailing arms & front suspension, to be 50" wide)
RZR-S 900 (new name but basically the same as todays '14 RZR 900)
RZR XP 900 (new model, MSRP $17999, same platform as XP1000 but w/ 900 engine, cheaper shocks, cheaper tires/wheels)
RZR XP 1000 (no changes from '14 model)

RZR 4 900 (new model, msrp $19999, same platform as XP 4 1000 but w/ 900 engine, cheaper shocks, cheaper tires/wheels)
RZR XP 4 1000 (4 new colors but no other changes)

Notes:

800 engine is old school and gone in 2015.
Much simplified line up with 3 engine choices instead of 4, all engines made from same basic design for manf. ease.
Expand sales on increased manf. capacity of 1000 platform with 2 new models.
Current RZR-4, XP4 chassis is gone.
Of course Polaris will offer many new color choices.

Again, I know nothing. These are all just guesses and speculation for fun and conversation.

Re: Death of the RZR-4 and Predictions for 2015 Lineup

Good Topic

I think they will stick with what is making the most profit

If the old school 800s are not making any profit? than of course they are outa here

We will see them do well with the New Ace I believe

I dont see them making a 50" 900, cause the 570 has that territory covered

I see a 900 60'' to replace the old school 800 S

I am like you on this matter I Know Nothing

This is just all Speculation

Fun to see what the future will bring us

Or to see if any of us predicted it

Re: Death of the RZR-4 and Predictions for 2015 Lineup

So which would you guys like to see?

A 2015 RZR 1000 for $18k with more basic tires/wheels, less frills, OR for Polaris to drop a 900 engine into the 1000 platform, keep most the goodies, and save $2000?

I also think the ACE (and future ACE XP) are going to be a huge success.
I think if they went forward with just one ProStar base engine design with 570/900/1000 variants they could make more $$ than having a separate prodution line for the 800, but I don't work for Polaris so I dunno. That would streamline the supply chain. Plus then they could make a claim in all three engine sizes that they are "the most fuel efficient side x sides in their class" - a huge marketing point with today's sxs customer is fuel efficiency believe it or not.

Yeah you're right, right now there's the 50", the 60.5" S, and the 64" 900. I dunno though, if the price was the same don't you think guys who bought a rzr-s would've got a 900? I can't imagine a guy letting 3.5" of width stop him from getting a better chassis...? I can understand having to be at 50" for tight trails and posts, but would any rzr-s owner not trade to a 900 if they had a chance? Does that extra 3.5" of width really matter?

Re: Death of the RZR-4 and Predictions for 2015 Lineup

There is more to RZR life than riding at the wide open dunes. Bigger isnt always better.

The xp1000 4 seater is too big to have future 4 seaters replacing the 8/900.

Re: Death of the RZR-4 and Predictions for 2015 Lineup

I hear what you're saying. What if they took the 1K4 chassis and shortened the front a-arms and moved them rearwards 2", plus they re-configured the rear trailing arms, then used different offset on the wheels. It would be easy to have a 1K4 that's 60.5" wide and shave 5" off the length. It's still going to be 10" longer but they can easily get the width down to the same as a rzr-4...

But think about it for a sec, so what you're saying is that Polaris is perfectly happy the way the 2014's are, and them making a complete chassis for the 1K and 1K4 and calling it a day. All of the R&D, production lines, new factories, new tooling, etc etc and they're just going to make 2 models? That doesn't make sense. They have to expand it.

Truer words have never been spoken on this topic. Some guys just don't understand one thing on the history of this sport in the mountains.
Our 2 main places that we ride were originally laid out for horseback riding. As that hobby faded, it next went to motorcycles, then 3 wheelers, then quads. And around 2008ish, the SXS hit the market. First at 50 wide, then 60 and now 64. The problem is, that the old trail systems are just now getting beat out to where a 60 wide can travel all day with a moderately skilled driver. And not shred the sidewalls of your tires.
We don't bend shocks. We don't need 27" of travel. What we do need is a fresh new line up of machines designed for trail riding. Not a multi purpose machine that has been adapted to operate with a modest degree of satisfaction on a narrow trail system.
We don't need turbos, nitrous, nitro methane, 64 wide or trailing arms.
We want and need EPS, EBS, better brakes, A Arms on all 4 corners, a skid plate that is up to the task, 12 inches or more of clearance and the choice of 50 or 60 wide with a somewhat unobstructed view of the front end. In 2 colors.

The 800 motor has been supposedly "gone" in discussion threads like this for years! They are going to do whatever generates the most profit. If they think sticking with the 800 does that, then that's what they'll do.

I forgot to add we want the 900 motor in there with gears for reverse, not a chain drive reverse. I guess They will do whatever They want to do.

Re: Death of the RZR-4 and Predictions for 2015 Lineup

I love speculation threads!!!

50" Wide
100HP at the crank
12" wheel travel
11-12" ground clearance
Fox, Elka, King, or Motowoz, shocks
short wheel base
power steering
Full underbelly protection
oversize ball joints, bushings, and wheel bearings
emergency brake lever
shift on the fly from low to high

The above combination would be a winner for potential SxS enthusiast coming from sport quads in my opinion.

My guess,900 stay the same size.get 1000 style frame,bigger brakes,high clearance arms all around,New cage,same engine just 10 more hp or less,New bodywork.very similar to a smaller 1000
