Re: 2014 rzr 800 s

I dont think the 800 s has an air box problem. I believe that is the 900. Is it good? No , they are terrible which is why they sell so well. Sorry just being a smart a**.

I love my 800s. No regrets. No problems. Like anything else, you take care of it right, it will treat you right. Good luck in your decision.

Re: 2014 rzr 800 s

The 800 machines are very rugged, do very well out on the trail. The XP models have more power, more speed. But depending on where you ride, that may or may not be a plus.

If you like the mountain trails, the XP may be too wide. Or if it isn't too wide, you can't use all the power.

Me, well...my 2009 800 is down to about 5% stock. I really enjoy working on it, coming up with ideas to make it better, its my passion.

You mention the air box. Any of the RZR models, even the Can-Am and Artic Cat models...the engine is under the bed at the rear of the machine. So that means the power train lives in an atmosphere of swirling dust, water, mud and who knows what else...so you have more inspections and preventive maintenance to do than your every day car or pick-up or quad.

Like any other piece of equipment, abuse it and it will break.

Do your inspections and preventive maintenance and you'll have miles and miles of smiles!!!

Re: 2014 rzr 800 s

I had a 2010 RZR 800S that I bought new. I read about the air filter problems on this forum and checked my air box after several rides in the dusty southern california desert and I did see some fine dust that made it past the stock filter. I bought a UMP filter for $300 and put grease on the front and rear of the Donaldson air filter and never had another problem with the air filter system. If the 2014 still has the same filter box as the 2010 a $300 UMP filter solves the problem.

Thanks guys, I can't wait to get mine. I live in southeast Tennessee and we ride in the mountains.. Lots of trails and hills. I've always had a fourwheller but everyone I know is getting into the rzrs.. I just like to do my research.. Thanks

Re: 2014 rzr 800 s

You won't regret it. A little over a year ago I drove a buddy's 2011 800s on a Saturday, bought my brand new 2013 from the dealer the following Monday and picked it up that Tuesday. I will warn you, it is an addiction not a toy. Ha ha Enjoy!
