quieter RZR Muffler
I sent a thread in on getting my RZR quieter... and I found something that helps. I went to an auto parts store and picked up a stainless steel universal resonator... slid it on, tightened up the 3 bolts and it did take the edge off the constant roar. Cost $23.00 and doesn't look bad at all.

Re: quieter RZR Muffler
That sounds like a good way to go if it quiets it enough. I too like more quiet, noise tends to wear me down if I have to hear it all day. I don't understand why anyone would pay money to make one louder. What parts store did you find it at?

Re: quieter RZR Muffler
The resonator on the end of the exaust doesn't quiet it much, maybe 10% on the highway, (It helps some) but there is an resonator that screws onto the tailpipe that has a baffle that would work much better.
This one has some glass packing... but no baffle. I also talked to one muffler guy who said to put a bend down and add a resonator. (Still not quiet)
There are also smallglass-pack mufflers that will quiet it down much more.

Re: quieter RZR Muffler
I Emailed Polaris, they just blew me off, told me to call my dealer who is useless. Thanks Polaris.

Re: quieter RZR Muffler
I recomend the Benz Silent Rider. I Installed one, and I like it very much. I'd say its 50% quieter, slight loss of power, easy to install or remove.

Re: quieter RZR Muffler
Thanks Jom, I did add on a small glass pack that I slide on the end of the muffler tip, and rad a bolt through to hold it on and it did help. Still a little loud, but much better.
I wish Polaris would comment on what kind of back pressure would be allowed... then it would make it east. (Don't want to mess up a motot for quieter huh?)

Re: quieter RZR Muffler
I would be willing to sacrifice a little power to get quiet. The noise ruins an otherwise awsome ride.

Re: quieter RZR Muffler
arzeear- I also would not mind losing a little power to get our RZR quiet. I wonder if anyone will make just a muffler to replace the stock one, ever???

Re: quieter RZR Muffler
I guess we can only hope someone comes along and finishes the exhaust system where Polaris left off. I also hope Polaris reads these forums and realizes not everyone likes noisy exhaust.

Re: quieter RZR Muffler
i put a pair of stock 07 yamaha r1 mufflers on they are a baffled muffler and are very quiet.. they will also add to performance as they are designed to flow with a 1000cc 10,000 rpm motor. i'm doing a new head pipe for them now, but the last time i had them on i was playing with a stock rzr, he was behind me and i could hear his exhaust over mine..
470ltz drove mine down a straight away, wide open, when he went by me he was still about 50 yds from me and i could hear the belt and the clutch and the stereo, over the exhaust..
i've had the two brothers on for a while and i'm re-doing the yammie crossbreed exhaust. i'm looking forward to the quiet exhaust again
