popping noise behind left front wheel

recently i asked you guys about a popping behind my left front wheel, i have taken it to the dealer and i guess when polaris put it together they left a shem out behind the axle nut on both sides, they fixed it while i was there and the mechanic said it was a recall about the shem the service manager said it was not, they told me to pay $46 or the razr stays, if it was a part they left out why should i be responsible for it, has anyone else run into this?

If you have an 08, it wasn't left out, it was never there. If you have an 09 and it wasn't there, it WAS left out, as they added a shim on each side to the 09s. The additional shim keeps the wheel bearing from rocking (moving) which is what makes the noise. Your $46 was mostly labor. I think the shims are a couple bucks each.

If you do have an 09, you can show them the OEM drawings, available on their machines or you can look it up at an OEM parts place like Don Wood Polaris. It's supposed to be there on an 09, but not on an 08.

Re: popping noise behind left front wheel

Wasn't really a recall, heck they don’t even call it a service bulletin.

A team tip??? How bout a little Quality Control here Polaris, they should be handing these “Washers” out over the counter if they’re not going to pay the dealers to install them.

Re: popping noise behind left front wheel

Will the '08 use these shims and are they helpful? Just before my 6 mo. warranty was up I got the same noise and they replaced a front axle. Noise went away but it is now back again. Would a shim help my situation? I don't want to keep going back to the shop every 6 months to get a new axle. I don't ride hard but I do make the machine work from time to time.
