street tires??

OK so I have a 13 RZR s with the 26" maxis big horns and am doing a lot of asphalt since they are street legal here in ND. We do some trail riding in MT, and SD so wondering if I should get a different set of wheels and tires for buzzing around town I don't mind the ride of the Big horns at all just they seem soft and wondering how long they will last on blacktop. doing about 100 miles a month In the summer. In the winter it will be my snow pusher. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks:

Dave.

Re: street tires??

We put car tires on our S and it is really hard to turn corners. The car tires squawk really bad when turning because they grab the pavement no matter how little air you put in them. Street riding will wear out the offroad tires quicker by they are easier on a rzr than the car tires that grab the pavement.

We have now exceeded the cost of a new RZR on accessories and have way too many to list.

Best off road toy ever! Thanks Polaris.

Re: street tires??

I'm running BFG KM2's on my RZR and love them. They are tough as nails and ride great on the road as well as the trails. I'm running 30" but they have them as small as 27". Depending on the type of riding you do you may or may not need beadlocks with them. The sidewalls tend to be a little stiffer but are no issue for normal trails. If you do any rock crawling you may want the beadlocks to let you air down some.

They work great stock but I custom cut mine specifically for rock crawling. They will last forever....

$400 bucks a shoe! They better last forever. LOL Do you have any problems on pavement like the hard turning and squawking that more toys mentioned? I ride on the streets and do mainly trail riding.

Re: street tires??

No problems at all and I only paid a little over $700 for 4 shipped to my door. Only barking is in drive making sharp turns.

What part of ND you from?

Take a look at the Mongrels and they are DOT approved. Nothing but good reviews on these.

Re: street tires??

those mongrels look like a good deal, less than the Bighorns for sure. I am In Dickinson. I see your Home town is Mandan. was just there / Bismarck Saturday. This part of the country is Crazy Oil nation right now. not the same little towns that they used to be.

I hear Ya. I use to take care of some large HVAC contracts for schools, Court Houses, Police Station and Jails, Power Plants etc. for the western part of the state and had contracts in Killdeer, Dickinson, Mott, Hettinger down to Buffalo South Dakota and some other towns and use to do a lot of hunting in the Badlands. Not any more as most of the roads are shut down to the rigs for the general public. Things have really changed in the last 10 years up there. Even Bismarck and Mandan are growing like crazy.

KM2's in a 27" are $708 shipped to your door. You just have to have 15" rims.

Re: street tires??

We have over 2700 miles on the S and around 2300 of that is street riding with over half on pavement. We run the stock Bighorns and are not showing that much wear; we had them balanced so they wear even.

Despite what anyone else tells you, it is cheaper in the long run to run the offroad tires and replace them every couple of years than to replace the rear diff or transmission, or both, from the stress put on them by the grabby car tires. And sooner or later, the grabbing car tires will wreck something. It is not only hard turns but every turn if you have enough experience running street tires on solid axle machines to know what to listen for.

you said Balanced! do you mean rotated from the left to the right because I am seeing a little rounding of the tread on the forward part and think rotating tires from left to right would even out the wear.
