High altitude sand dune riding?

Has anyone taken their RZR's to any sand dune areas at 5K feet of elevation or above? I'm thinking of buying a RZR for my wife to dune. But our duning trips are usually at St. Anthony's, where the elevation is right at 5000 feet. I'd sure hate to spend $10K to find out the RZR won't climb anything out there because it's gasping for air. Anyone have any experience with these conditions?

Thank's for the reply. I'm sure it won't climb Choke Cherry, but have you tried? How does it do in the bigger dunes/bowls? Have you tried to climb Thunder?

I didn't try Thunder but I'm sure it would make it, it will climb Sand Mountain at Little Sahara. And I wouldn't even try Choke. I did that on my 4 wheeler and it scared the shit outta me. lol that thing is steep. It did amazing on the bigger dunes and bowls I also had my two year old in his car seat with me so we weren't to crazy we did some huge bowls but took the safe routes everywhere else. Where are you located? near Rexburg I assume.

Actually, I'm in Meridian(a suburb of Boise).

Choke is definitely steep. I'm more afraid of going down it than up it.

Thank's for the info. That's very reassuring.

I'm afraid of going down too. The first time I went down choke I crashed in the bushes at the bottom.

I did nearly the same thing once. Except I bailed before hitting the bushes. My Raptor plowed into them without me.

Haven't posted there in quite some time.

I go to Sand Mountain 3 - 4 times a year.

Re: High altitude sand dune riding?

The RZR worked fine in the Cinder Hills OHV area outside Flagstaff AZ. The base elevation is 7000 feet and a few of the hills go up to 8000 feet. It made it to the top of all the big hills, and the top of $100 hill by the back way.
