New to rzr's. what are common problems?

I'm looking to pull the trigger on a jagged x soon but I am concerned about issues I hear about weak frame, bad bushings, arm mounts etc. I used to be diehard polaris guy with my sportsman quads then I bought a can am renegade and love it. So what's the deal are the issues exaggerated due to the amount of rzr's out their? I live in the desert so it will see a lot of rocks and tough terrain. I don't want to have to work on it all the time, I know things fail but I don't want to spend 20k+ and have to replace bs stuff all the time. Thanks!

Re: New to rzr's. what are common problems?

Welcome!
I too live in the desert. I ride my 2012 900xp loaded with tools, coolers, extra fuel, spare tire, through rocks and rough terrain, in 17 to 119 degree weather with zero problems.
My wife wants a Jag as well so without hesitation i will be buying one.

Imo the people who have the most probelms treat their machine like a quad.

A rzr weighs over 1000lbs loaded. Can you slam it through rough stuff as hard? No. Yes you can fast yes you can beat on it. But use common sense.

Preventive maintenance is key. Take care of it.

Yes you will wear out bushings and bearings but thats a fact of life

x2 agree with too many toys
drive it like you stole it and the rzr will get you back by stealing your wallet and credit card

Treat it like its your baby and it will serve you well. You have to remember there are people who could break a steel ball. They could care less about taking care of things and they will be the first to bitch when it breaks. Mine has been flawless and it is the funnest toy I have ever owned. I can't wait to ride it the next time.

Re: New to rzr's. what are common problems?

Mine has been trouble free for almost a year. I keep everything over greased, change fluids way to often, clean when not used and every bolt and nut tight. It's been great and we ride pretty hard, only real wear is the magnetic strip on my credit card is worn so I just order accessories online or over the phone now so I don't have to swipe it.

A common problem happens when u let your financially unstable friends drive it..and they drive it like they own it!

Double check the fluids before every ride. Watch for drips when parked.

Drive smart, that saves a lot of money.

Re: New to rzr's. what are common problems?

A recent thread reminded me to use caution in reverse. Reverse is for backing up. Don't pull people out of the mud in reverse and don't rev the hell out of it in reverse trying to get yourself unstuck even. Have heard of a lot of reverse chains being broken. Expensive fix!

Oh yeah, agree with above! Don't let your broke-ass buddies or ESPECIALLY your broke-ass teenagers with under-developed brains drive your RZR!

be prepared to go to RZR rehab as it is an addiction not a sport.

So a lot of it sounds like abuse. I am stoked to get it just nervous about all the things I have heard and pics I have seen of folded in two xp4 and broken tabs off of frames. I know one friend who's rzr4 was new and went into a ditch and pulled the arms out of the tabs.

Re: New to rzr's. what are common problems?

Don't wreck it and you won't have to worry about it;-) That can be fixed with aftermarket parts for a couple hundred bucks, definitely worth it if you're worried about it. UTV inc., Racertech, and Dragonfire all have gusset kits for them from bolt on to full weld in kits that really beef them up.
