Does anyone have the part number for the K&N and UNI air filter that fit a stock RZR box.

I just ordered the Dragonfire Filter system from Jordan. I have 100 hours on my RZR and am seeing dust in the tube to the throttle body. I can't say anything about K&N filters but dust has been getting through my UNI Filter. I ran the stock Polaris filter for about 200 miles before changing over to the UNI filter, I bought two of them, one for a spare. After discovering the dust in the TB I took a paper towel and wiped the inside of the stock filter. It came out clean. After wiping the inside of the UNI Filter I found that the paper towel was not clean. It was not filthy by any means but it showed traces of dust. Just my personal experience. Others may disagree.

Re: Back To Factory Air Box

one has a machined Groove in the lids for a o ring, the other doesnt have the oring on the lids. If you dont sumberse the intake for more than a few minutes you wont need the sealed one.

Did you oil the uni? If it had oil on it, you shouldn't be able to wipe dust off even if it was there.....

rzrcrzr - I'm in Southern Alberta. bought my rzr from Ranchers Supply. They have been very supportive of the situation. They are trying to get the engine work covered by Polaris. So far I have not received a bill. We shall see

It sounds like the fine dust is inevitable

Re: Back To Factory Air Box

i have ALOT of super fine dust here...we are in the middle of a drought. we have baby powder fine dust here EVERYWHERE. If you ride with someone u must stay WAY back just to see the trail. After installing the Dragonfire/bti box i haven't had any problems. i tried oiled filters etc. first cause i hated to drop the money for the box but i can say for sure it was the best money i spent.

Since riding ATV's for so many years and recently being apart of this forum I have never heard or read so much about filter problems. Wow ,wow, wow, "but with the LARGER filter the "air suck" is dispursed over a greater area. therefore, the filter is able to stop the dust more effeciently because there isn't so much pressure in one spot." If you clean your air filter after every ride like you are suppose to do this will not happen. I am a commercial HVAV contractor who owns my own company. I know a few things about air filtration. Sorry, there is no way any body here rides so much during 1 day to cause this to happen. After every ride pull and clean the filter properly. Every filter system lets some amount of dirt thru. There is NO filter that will block 100% of all dirt. Hell, your car filter does'nt filter ALL dirt.

Re: Back To Factory Air Box

it may not stop all of the dirt ...true enough but less is better.. course i do clean mine. I have been riding atv's since 1985 myself. I have never had the air filter problem on any atv i have ever owned as i do on the RZR. I still own a 650 brute force, polaris ranger xp, j.d. gator( p.o.s. by the way)... point is that not cleaning the air filter very well could be some of the problem but in the right area 1 day IS enough have too much dirt in the throttle body...maybe its not as dusty in your area as some...but I'm sure everyone that has had problems aren't imagining them

Sounds like an expensive top end coming your way. The fact is the stock filter doesn't keep dust out of the engine. Even if you clean it after every ride. If you really know something about filration you should reconize the filter used in the BTI and Dragonfire boxes as a much better filter. A filter that needs to cleaned this often MUST be easy to do. Fighting a hose clamp you can't even see only to see a bunch of dust in the intake tube isn't a good design.

Unfortunately people think a 12k machine should have a decent air filter. It doesn't and the damage is done before they spend another $500 to fix the problem.

I never said I have a factory air filter. I run a EHS kit with a K&N filter. All my clamps are sealed tight and yes, I clean my filter after each ride. I ride here in Ohio and the trails at Hatfield in West Virginia. Mud, water and dust are the norm here. By the way, if and when I may EVER need atop end rebuild, I will simply do it myself. Personally, I feel if you are not able to do any mechanical work on your machine then maybe you should'nt be making any modifications to it. Leave it stock if your not willing to work on it!
