Shifting Problems??

Went out to the sand drags last night and messed my rig up. It is hard to get into any gear with motor running. Can shift between gears easily when motor not running. When in High, the rzr fells like it is slipping in and out of gear, grabs-releases-grabs-jumps??? I got warranty on unit and was just wondering what to expect? OHHH by the way, unit was just serviced at the dealer on friday.

Thanks for all replys on what ya think is F'd up...................

Sounds like you lost a piece of your belt, look at the primary for belt stuck in it

Re: Shifting Problems??

you've got a belt issue. have you been running around in high gear at low speed? That'll eat belts up.

Re: Shifting Problems??

Thanks guys. I think something else is wrong with the clutch area also. I have 28 hrs on unit and this makes the 2nd belt. What is causing this?? I did smell belt on one of the power launches off the line last night. Was hitting the rev limiter at about the 20 ft mark. I have an EPI stage 2 kit and belt to put in, but was wanting to wait till dune season to put in. I do have another stock polaris belt to put in for now. Will tear off cover and have a look......

Thanks again for the info...........

Re: Shifting Problems??

under the belt on the primary the part between the sheves is a roller it looks like a sleave/or shaft that part should spin easy...if not that will cause problems their is a bearing in it and dust build up will cause drag...

Re: Shifting Problems??

Definately the bearing as Johnny stated. Also check that you havent melted the washers on either side of the rollers in the spider primary due to too much heat. If the bearing is blued then definately too much heat

Re: Shifting Problems??

Well . I tore it down and found the belt was the problem. It was a little thin in spots and was trying to roll. Everything else looked fine. No bluing and no bad bearings. Definately NO more power braking here!!!! Thank you all for the input. Sites like this sure help out the pocketbook..........
