TURBO RZR owners post your speed/times here!
I have been looking at turbo kits, but none of the manufacturers are giving much info as far as how much faster than stock they are.
So if you have a turbo, tell us what you can, maybe: 0 to 30mph time? 0 to 40mph time? 0 to 50mph time? Top speed? Also tell us what brand of turbo, how much boost you are running, etc. If someone posts their times, I will test mine and post my stock times for comparison... Thanks in advance!

Re: TURBO RZR owners post your speed/times here!
I dont currently have a turbo kit on my RZR but also have considered installing a kit and my big concerns would be reliability , over heating and how well the machine would just cruise when not on boost. anything I have turbo charged (and I have done a few) has lost low end grunt and generally has gained a hesitation right where boost starts to kick in. its never perfectly smooth. engine cooling system temps go way up when running hard as do exaust temps and detonation can eat a set of cast pistons in less than a minute and I dont think the RZR's stock pistons are forged. I would never run a turbo kit that doesnt use the engines oiling system to lubricate the turbo, and on a hot day even 7 or 8psi on just premium pump fuel would in my opinion be pushing it as far as detonation goes. I dont care what anyone says, if you force feed an engine and make almost double its original horsepower, its going to shorten the engines life. I like trail riding and duning way out in the middle of nowhere and the idea of having to get towed 15 miles back to camp across the dunes and a trip cut short because of an engine failure
is whats keeping me from pulling the trigger on a kit.

If you want no turbo lag, then look at MPI's new supercharger: MPI RZR Supercharger If you want a "more reliable in some peoples opinion" naturally aspirated motor with more power, try the Weber motor swap...

Re: TURBO RZR owners post your speed/times here!
Tuf-Skin - I think in the situations that you are asking about, the turbo will have no more top end speed than the stock RZR as they will both hit the rev limit.
I can't say what the different times that you request are at this moment, but will try to get some for you. The times will be from a MCX Turbo RZR. It has been running 11 PSI boost on premium pump fuel for the last 1600+ miles. SSToys - I think you would be surprised at how smooth and linear the powerband can be on a well set up turbo RZR. |

Re: TURBO RZR owners post your speed/times here!
I don't know times but I can tell you I would never go back to a non-turboed rzr. I can let a stock rzr s take off first and blow by like he is sitting still on hard ground and in the sand its even worse. Putting around has been no prob either, it feels a little different mainly because of tighter clutching but still very responsive. I am running the MCX turbo at 11.5 psi. on premium pump gas. I am running the MPI programmed ecu. Trey at MCX tuned his fuel mapping to work with it. I have run this thing pretty hard and had 0 trouble. I tried other exhaust and fuel controllers and clutching. None even come close. The only change I made was the airfilter setup.

Re: TURBO RZR owners post your speed/times here!
Thanks for your responses. It is good to hear you are not having any troubles with the turbo, or the rest of the machine.
I wasn't expecting any additional speed on the top end, I was wondering how much quicker the turbo would be off the line, 0 to 40mph, compared to stock. I bet they are a blast!

Re: TURBO RZR owners post your speed/times here!
I guess I would say you need a longer drag strip. First you were driving the fast one without a bed! thats a lot of weight. Also, No passenger seat!! The S had A arm guards and maybe a full skid plate.
Come on you can do better than that cant you! A super charger should smoke a RZR S not just beat it especially when considering the weight difference. Maybe a longer strip will allow you to get more distance on the S. |
