Sounds like its working like it should to me. Here's how I understand whats happening.

When in AWD and traction require the front wheels to engage, all 4 wheels will turn at the exact same speed. Without the trailer attached the front tires do little (if any) in aiding traction for forward movement unless you are hard on the gas. With the trailer in tow it adds resistance to forward movement causing a greater need for traction. If the traction loss is enough, the front will engage to aid in traction (as it should). If this loss is great, the demand for aid is great. When turning with great traction loss the inside front tire is the one that has the greatest demand for traction (remember all wheels are trying to turn at the same speed) and the outside tire has a much lesser (if any) demand for aiding traction (because its actually rotating faster than the inside tire). When this happens the front tires will try to balance themselves with equal traction duties. This creates greater feed back to the driver and is what I think you are experiencing.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you are getting this same feedback when going straight. That would indicate to me that something is "broke/not right" up front.

We have had steering problems with our 2 racers when the front hubs broke but it is a different problem it feels like the rack is locking up. What you are describing sounds normal when the front diff is locked in it should steer a little harder.
