800rzr hydraulic roller lifter conversion??

thought I sen one shop offered hyd-roller lifters/cam for 800 rzr engines. or did I dream that?

has anyone tried or given thought, or use solid flat tappet set-up?

also does anyone know the diameter of the hyd lifters in the 800 engine?

is it a drop in deal? or must you have lifter bores in block machined larger?

SBC are .842" dia. Fords are .875" dia. would the stock popo be one of those two dia.? thanks

Re: 800rzr hydraulic roller lifter conversion??

Sam --

The S&S Roller Cam Kit is a complete kit.

It is a drop-in kit ........... Although a slight bit of clearancing needs to be done on both the cylinder and base gasket. A dremmel is a good tool for this. The instructions explain this well.

The kit is guaranteed to run all day at 8500 RPM.

The kit is not designed to work with a stroker crank. Although with a bit of work it does work. I have 2 Turbo'd motors fitted this way.

You must run their roller lifters as they are machined for their lifter stablizing blocks. Also the correct length pushrods are included in their kit.

Have FUN .. ..

did you happen to measure the lifter dia? look a lot like SBC hyd lifters. anyways, why can you not run them with stroker cranks? does rods hit the camshaft??

Re: 800rzr hydraulic roller lifter conversion??

The S&S Cam Kits were developed long before the stroker crank became reality.

S&S used the '08 engine as their platform and this engine is governed to 6385 RPM. They developed their kits to rev extend 1000 RPM beyond.

Enter the stroker crank and the different engine manangement systems. When I worked with one of their Product Engineers on the development of a Turbo grind for a bored/stroked engine -- They have now re-certified their existing kits to run up to 8500 RPM. I have this in writing - Hence my posting on this.

I suggest you don't try an re-invent the wheel and substitute a different roller lifter. You gain nothing. And - No ...... I don't know the measurements.

The S&S Roller Cam Kit as I mentioned is not designed to work with the stroker crank.

With a longer stroke -- Without a base shim under the twin cylinder raising the head ............... The pistons would hit the head.

To use their kit with a stroker crank -- One has some machining to perform on the balance shaft -- Base shim and new pushrods are needed.

All very easy corrections to make work.

Good Luck -- I'm back on the road for a couple of weeks.

no big deal to measure for pushrod length to get correct ones needed, I understand guess you clearance shim plate liek you would bottom stock cylinder for the lifter guides. but why would you have to machine on balance shaft with /S&S roller set-up and not with flat tappet? thanks

Re: 800rzr hydraulic roller lifter conversion??

Hey Eli --

At the time - I had the rights to the Turbo cam ........... I agreed to the product development fee -- Ultimately they could not meet my schedule as they had quite a delay period until they could get a blank into production.

The Turbo grind never went into production as they had some internal issues.
