Polaris is extending the warrarty to 18 months for any engine problems relating to the dust/intake problems we have all been seeing.
My ride has 30 hours and 200 miles on it and the compression was 120 and 100, burns through oil and fouls plugs. Dust actually accumulates onto oily plug.
Here is the link to get your free new improved air filter and outlines the extended warranty.
That is really bad news. Do you think dust is still getting past the filtering media or coming in from other areas which aren't designed to be sealed properly? Unfortunately, everywhere I ride in Southeast Texas is dusty conditions...
ihave sealed all my tubes and every entrance to tb and still finding dust in there has to be the filter..im switching to a wet filter instead of dry, ide try that before i rely on the new airfilter they are sending you , uni makes a great filter
Uni's don't work in dusty conditions. How do I know, well that's what was on mine. Further more, because I had a Uni Installed Polaris used that as a reason to deny my warranty request.
Does anyone know is this warranty about extending it 18 months is for real? has anyone used it or had thing s replaced because of it even though your 6 month or extended warranty has run out.
i think they should ship the bellow flex boot and some awesome clamps to everyone with the new filter. i also wonder how long before HPD and Holz and whoever else does the throttle body bores starts welding the little nipples for the new boot.
I have been running my rzr gen 1 for over a year now with no dirt problems. When i first started riding it i noticed it collapsing the intake between the seats so i cut a larger opening and cured it. The 2 other rzrs of my buddys were not cut open and they both had dirt injestion issues. If it draws a vacuum then it will draw dirt from anywhere it can.
Do you have any pics of what you did you can post on here. Did you do somethin similar to putting a filter right in front of where the intake is or something different. If no pics could you explain in detail what you did.
Just cut about 2" off of the bottom edge of the plastic lip that hangs down over the opening between the seats that feeds the intake for the clutch and motor. Before cutting this area I have found you can barely fit your fingers up in the opening and some rzrs are worse than others. Go ride it before cutting it at wot put your hand on it and you will see it will be vibrating like the suction is trying to collaps it.
Polaris just called me. The mechanic sent pictures of my rings, cylinder, etc. to Polaris for approval. I am out of warranty and they are covering a new top end minus a new cylinder. It wasn't damaged and could be honned but I am paying for a new one just for the piece of mind. Total cost to me minus the new cylinder is $200 for fluids, & oil change service. The mechanic said the oil rings were completely shot due to dust injestion (30 hours of operation). My prevention is snorkling the intake outside of the bed and attaching a secondary 10"x6" K&N filter. The mechanic said clean the air filter frequently or when it clogs it will pull dust/air in from elsewhere. I did recieve a new larger filter from Polaris with different media.
I just got a cal from the dealer and they are replacing everything from the crankcase up. The only think staying from the old engine is the crank and crankcase. He said the rest will all be new. They would have had it done in about a week and a half but popo sent them a complete charging kit for a 700 sportsman instead of a complete top end kit for the rzr. Dont know how they got that mixed up. O well just happ they are doing all of this on popo's checkbook and not mine. anyone else having similar results?
The RZR comes with a 6 month warranty from the dealer here in the US. I bought the extended Polaris warranty that covers the machine for a total of 5 years. The 5 year warranty extension was around $900 US dollars...................
