Which EFI control box???

I've been looking at aftermarket EFI control boxes for my RZR, but out of all the different folks I see selling them, there only seem to really be 2 or 3 different boxes. All the rest look like the same box, just re-packaged. I'd also like to find something that has timing control in it, which none of the ones I've found seem to. Fuel control is great, but can only take you so far. It's been my experience that manufacturers set stock timing curves very conservatively, planning on a "worst case" scenerio; i.e. poor quality fuel, high temperatures and rough usage. For someone who keeps their equiptment in repair and is willing to use premium or even race fuel, I think there's way more power to be gained on the timing side of the tuning equation than just the fuel side alone.

Is there anything out there that can accomplish this or is this just wishful thinking?? Do any of you have any experience (good OR bad) with the EFI control boxes out there right now??

Re: Which EFI control box???

I used A DynoJet PCIII on my KFX450R (ATV) and it works great. Easy to download new maps.

Hot Seat Performance has remapped CDI boxes that address fuel, timing, and rev limiter

Re: Which EFI control box???

The Hot Seat Performance unit sounds interesting, (I just looked up their website) But they're pricey and you only get a "fixed" program. I guess I just have to wait with my fingers crossed in hopes that someone will make a controller that does it all!! (Any sponsors out there listening???)

Re: Which EFI control box???

I have put one on mine. It raises the rev limiter to 7000 and changes the fuel mapping some. I have ported the head, new cam, exhaust, clutch setup. I still have to put new intake system on it to let it breath now. I have also added the Boondocker box which can be tuned at any RPM. Still tuning on it right now. Just got a air/fuel meter to get the jetting right. BIG difference in power!

And that's with the MPI reprogrammed CDI and the Boondocker injector controller both, right?

YEP, both. The MPI remap is for a stock machine with just differnet exhaust.

Re: Which EFI control box???

I just did Power Commander FI controller but could also run it with one of the CDI boxes from Mountain or Dirty Dawg to getyou everything you want. I dont know why anyone would run any other FI controller than the Power Commander as the other are not very adjustable re-stamped Dobeck units that are useless after any other mods than exhaust and airbox.

Re: Which EFI control box???

I just installed a PC III on my RZR also. It seems to have complemented my other mods well and I like the software and ease of adjustment. My only issue has been getting the "Accelerator Pump" software to work. After I connect the PC III to my computer, the regular software will connect and read just fine, but the Accel. Pump software shows that there's no box connected. Anyone else run into this issue????
