engine breather tube
Why is the breather tube coming from the valve cover to the air box split? One tech said it was there to keep it from over pressuring the system, but if it goes to the air box how would it over pressure? From what I understood all RZR's come with this setup. I replaced mine with a solid hose to to keep water and mud from getting in.

Re: engine breather tube
I was told it is so condensation (or water can drain) wont freeze in cold climates.

Re: engine breather tube
thanks for the response, but the split faces upward so I assume this isn't a drain of any sort.

I am wondering about same thing, why is a cut in the hose, they even have white mark for it. It is going to air box and don't have any restrictions on the way to have danger of blowing that hose.

Re: engine breather tube
Also doesn't that kind of undo the work of the peeps that have put an air filter at the intake between the seats?

I replaced my hose with one withOUT a slit. I am all about the no water/mud/dirt getting into the engine.

The manuel doesn't list anything about this split in the hose

Re: engine breather tube
Can't you just vent the gases to the atmosphere instead? Do they have to be recirculated??? This is just the breather for emmissions, right? I don't even know why it's there when the RZR isn't emmissions regulated? What do you snorkelling types do?

Like Cordachine said change the hose if you are snorkeling. This hose leads striaght into the motor if sand, water, or mud was to enter...not good!

Re: engine breather tube
the hose is split in case the condensate, in cold ,winter, riding conditions would freeze and cause the pressure in the case to blow the dipstick out of the tube or worse. a solid tube is fine in warmer areas but in the midwest and northern parts of the country leave the tube alone. now if you don't ride in the winter it makes no diff. wether the tube is split or not.

Re: engine breather tube
its a crankcase breather air in air out. my UMP airbox came with a new hose without a slit and a better fitler media for the end of the hose.

Re: engine breather tube
thanks to all for the info, I replaced it with a solid hose. I don't have to worry about cold weather here.
