Re: clicking in front end when turning, coming from the wheels
can someone measure the thickness of the #16 washer so we know exactly what to use?

Re: clicking in front end when turning, coming from the wheels
I have already installed the 1/2 grade 8 washer in mine and not had any clicking since. I used a washer from Lowes they sell, I drilled the whole out so it cleared the axle. I installed this washer closest to the axle nut, rather than closer to the bearing so I would not have to drill it out bigger due to the axle diameter getting larger where it is not threaded. I would say it is between 1/16 and 1/8. Once again it is the standard 1/2" grade 8 washer from Lowes. All you are doing is taking up the space between the washers that were not thick enough and the end of the threads. By adding another washer, now the nut is torquing on the washer as it was originally intended rather that running out of thread. That is why some people are having problems with the bearings going bad/beaten out because of the space between the washers not being torqued up against the bearing. When I added the washer, cotter pin barely cleared, but it was able to go in. I think I actually torqued the nut to 85ft #. Wasn't worth the time and money to take to popo for the extended warranty for the easy fix. Here me now, believe me later.

Re: clicking in front end when turning, coming from the wheels
Passenger axle clicked badly, especially while turning. Removed the wheel, removed the crown nut, removed the brake caliper, pulled the hub, greased the crap out of the splines. Put it all back together, (probably more than 85 ft/lbs on the crown nut) and the clicking was cured! Hardest part was holding old worn out pully puller on hub and trying to crank a rusty old ratchet on the puller without getting smoke from my cigarette in my eyes.

Re: clicking in front end when turning, coming from the wheels
Does anyone else think the grease "fix" is just masking a more serious problem? If the hub doesn't fit properly on the spindle splines it will pop & creak. Lubing it may stop the popping but it doesn't fix the problem. Adding the shim under the crown washers might be "the fix" or it might be a band-aid but it makes more sense than just filling the splines with grease.

Re: clicking in front end when turning, coming from the wheels
There is a service bulletin to address this issue.
I believe the number is #08-08-01 should be a free fix.

Re: clicking in front end when turning, coming from the wheels
Yes, there is a service bulletin. It just adds another washer behind the two cone washers. You can do it yourself and the washers are about $1.75 each.

I don't think the grease itself is fixing the problem as much as maybe the retorquing of the axle nut, and retorqueing is probably only a temporary fix and will eventually need the added washer/shim.

Re: clicking in front end when turning, coming from the wheels
greased mine at 500 miles, have 2000 on it now and the hubs don't have any problems. Running 27" mud lite xtr tires. However my front springs and shocks are kaput.

it wasnt free for me. they tried to run it through as a warrenty claim and the computer wouldnt accept it. they called the warrenty company and they said it was classified as an "update" and not a recall so i had to pay over $100 in gas and labor for something i could have fixed my self in less then an hour.

Re: clicking in front end when turning, coming from the wheels
Wow my dealer did the upgrade for free and it fixed my problem.
I had it in the dealer a couple different times for this already though.
I must say my dealer is a good dealer and I will continue to do business with him. On a side note he is also a Can Am dealer so who knows about the future.
