Re: Revised/Improved K&N Apollo Air Intake

I agree with you. I want all my power on the bottom end. I would be happy with 60-65 for on the pavement when I run with traffic, but don't need anything more than that for the dirt. As of now, all I have for aftermarket engine mods, is a uni air filter. I haven't figured out what the "best for the money" add on would be for bottom end. I haven't even removed the clutch spacer yet, but I think that's just been laziness.

Light GY MTR Tires and Lightest Wheels you can find? I am installing ITP Type 6 (7.5 lbs each!)...LTE Dual Exhaust make great power on bottom with Fuel Controller...PRM or K&N Filter the PRM is much easier to service, but I do like the K&N...MPI Hot Programmed ECU (So you don't hit rev limit at take off and you'll gain fuel mileage...Get the clutch kit from HolzTech for this setup as it engages like stock I do not like the clutch kits with high engagement rpm HPD's is like 2800!!! Holy Moly you talk about a crazy clutch setup!
You can't beat LTE's for looks and sound even with Quiet Cores in it still rips I just turn the fuel down some with the controller...I regret not getting the ceramic coated...
I have a Billet 46mm Throttle Body to install when I get home and I'll give feed back on it...
My next mod would be the lighter 11:1 pistons from HPD...like I said I want all mine down low...

looks good ltz, what did you do with cvt intake? With the extractor did you notice yet if it actually kept more stuff out. Has anybody tried those in the stock boxes yet?

Yes after riding in a dusty area for an hour I saw a little dust cloud setting on top of the tranny right below the extractor...even ran in a creek for several miles! up close to the extractor...was really worried, but it went ok I didn't submerge it by any means...the K&N Apollo is $109 the Donaldson Extractor is $1.76...the Spectre intake piping and boots was $40-50 bucks...so about a $200 setup with clamps and all
Just the K&N by itself did a great job at not allowing dust past the filter and it does flow well it was designed for a 250hp naturally aspirated or 350 hp turbo engine...Had Outerwears make an Outerwear for it...not finished with it yet...going to make a V-Band Clamp for it for quick filter servicing...do not like the crankcase vent between the Filter and the Throttle body so I am going to install it seperately with a Uni Filter for the crankcase to breath from probably behind the Driver's or Passengers Seat

I am very please with this setup...as i have a back seat a Snorkle or the F2 is not an option...don't want anything in my bed anyway...seat or no seat...would be easy servcing in the bed though...

Re: Revised/Improved K&N Apollo Air Intake

What about cvt intake did you filter that seperalty if so did you run into any excess heat in clutch? I have been thinking of getting some type of burp valve to include in our kits as i think they would work pretty well just havent had a chance to test um.

Re: Revised/Improved K&N Apollo Air Intake

No I didn't I would like to pull the air from somewhere else also thought about the opposite side fender the same as the intake is coming in but the LTE Exhaust generates a lot of heat there and it would require the aluminum heat shielding from Thermo-Tec...

Re: Revised/Improved K&N Apollo Air Intake

i would say you would definetly want a little bit of filtration for the cvt even just an outerwears. Can you plum it up to where stock box would be?

K&N RC-5052AB - JEGS

Most everyone buys from their local autozone, checkers, or O'rielly's as they are usually around $109 plus tax...

Re: Revised/Improved K&N Apollo Air Intake

Here's the next mod guy's for quick cleaning and inspection of filter...a V-Band Clamp with a Quick Latch...it'll be a 5 minute job now to remove filter....I have to get the OD and width measurements of the K&N Apollo Flange to them then they are going to make it and may actually have an 8" Flange that will fit it already...will update when I git'r done

BUMP
This filter needs to stay on radar until someone can show that it doesn't fix the Rzr dust problem. Until that happens--it's a contender.
