Drive train or cvd noise?

I have a noise that seems to be coming from the cvd or drive train when I'm at about 2800 rpm going about 5 mph. It sounds like klanking or rattling. Hard to pin point it. RZR runs fine and doesn't feel like binding. It's just when I'm driving slow. Any ideas?

Re: Drive train or cvd noise?

Sounds like the CVT belt hitting the clutch cover, it makes a racket when it hits. This normally happens when the RZR is coasting and the engine breaking disengages.

Re: Drive train or cvd noise?

Mine is also making a grinding noise coming from the CV boots. Reminds me of my Honda 4 wheeler that had a broken bearing in the rear end...like fingernails on a chalkboard. I jacked it up and rotated the tires and sure enough, its coming from the boots (no tears or leakage). Is this normal for a stock '09 with 975m on it? Its stock and not abused. Also, I'm taking it in on Friday to have them look at it and I have the extended warranty. Does anyone know if it covers the CV axles? Thanks and sorry to hi-jack the thread.

Re: Drive train or cvd noise?

Rear brake pads rattle. Put your foot on the brake and see it it goes away.

Will they make that grinding sound that makes you cringe? It sure does sound like its coming from the cv axles. I'll check out the brakes. Thanks.

Re: Drive train or cvd noise?

rattle would be the brake pads, poping could be a bearing, grinding might be a CV joint... but it is hard to troubleshoot over the internet...

One fix for poping noise is to make sure the castle nut is tight, and that the cone washers under the nut are installed in the right direction. check the service manual.
