Aftermarket fuel pump replacement!!!
My 08 RZR had the fuel pump go out of it. I called the dealer and they told me that it was a NONSERVICABLE item and I had to buy the whole tank assembly. It was quoted at 460.00 plus tax. I told him that I had the fuel pump already out of the bike in my hand and he said that there was no way to get it apart. Don't believe it. It takes about 20 minutes to get it apart. I took just the pump and took it to my local auto parts store, and tryed matching it up. We found that an Airtex E8229 pump is the same size but the plug in looked just a wee wee little bit different. (I think it would've worked also, but I didn't take my harness with me to check for sure). The price on that pump was 135 bucks. I asked for a fuel pump for a 93 Jeep Wrangler with a 2.5 cylinder in it. I own this kind of jeep and know it carries 39 pound of pressure. He brought it out and it is EXACTLY the same fuel pump. Plug and all is identical. The stock Polaris fuel filter will even fit on it. It is an Airtex E-8335 pump. It even says Bosch right on it. Came home, slid it right back in and fired it up. The internal regulator on the RZR takes care of the 39 pounds and away ya go. I've put probably 50 mile on it so far, but am now having some drive clutch issues so I can't run it for the long term till I get that fixed. That pump is only 114.00 too. Beats the heck out of 460.00. Thought I'd pass this info along for other to save money.

Re: Aftermarket fuel pump replacement!!!
That is good info to have. I know I've seen other posts with folks trying to find an aftermarket pump. Thanks for the research. Plus, it's more proof of the RZR tax.

Re: Aftermarket fuel pump replacement!!!
Many Thanks,
My pump is fine (for now...knock on wood,) I'm working on sealing up the gasket area around the bolt down lid... Small leak. Yeahhh, $460 or just over $100 bucks. No brainer. On a similar side note, we found out the drive axles on a 700-750 king quad are the same as on a Ford Festiva!!!!!! Besides the price difference. |

Re: Aftermarket fuel pump replacement!!!
Here i was thinking that this was the whole drop in assembly! haha. I just needed new filters so I was able to get the preliminary filter as it fits on the pump like he said. However the fine filter is a different story. I ended up just taking it out and getting an inline fuel filter to use. I got one of an isuzu trooper that is fuel injected. Fixed my filter problem!

Re: Aftermarket fuel pump replacement!!!
I had 3 of the bolts in my fuel pump assembly come out of the plastic and it leaked also. I went the local Advanced Auto and they've got all kind of sealers. Just look for one that resists gas and try to make a small bead on the outer edge of the tank flange. I can't remember the name of the stuff I used, but no problems or leakage yet.
