Horrible Rear End Noise

After going fast about 50 to 55 and coming to a slow down speed, I get this horrible knocking noise, like steel parts locking into each other, like if you had a sandard tranfer case and you gear whent into a lower one. Don't know if it's the tranfer case, trany, rear diff, rear ball joints or ?????????

It was not in 4WD
It did this 3 to 4 times
After it was done with this noise all works fine
Did check all oils before the ride
I will check all in back end this weekend
Jest needed to know if anyone has had this horrible noise

Re: Horrible Rear End Noise

I posted this exact same thing somewhere, but took it to dealer and they checked it out and the only thing they found was some water in rear diff even though the only water I've been in is washing it and crossing streams, nothing extreme. They said only thing found other than that was bearing was scourd? Picked it up 2 days ago and haven't heard the sound yet. I don't know if thats the whole story or not, it only took them 1 1/2 weeks to figure that out and I was not smart enough to get a report in writing before I left because I wanted to ride.

3. Broken Brake Pad
4. Loose calliper
5. Slack in the diff
6. Rock caught in brake disk hole hitting caliper
7. Dirt stuck to brake disk
8. Small rock caught in motor mount

Re: Horrible Rear End Noise

you didnt respond to my question about the clack if it sounds like a clack i think it might be slack in the diff.i recomend getting all 4 tires in the air(up on jack stands) and twist one of your rear wheels rapidly in a foward and reverse motion and see if this is the noise you hear just a thought mtnmike
