engine problem,please help
I have installed my LTE duels, fuel controller, air box and epi clutch. The machine ran great and felt like a monster. After a couple hours riding I noticed left exhaust looked really lean(grey )and right looked really fat(black, sooty).I ckecked the LTE controller to see what the settings were and found it really hard to find all 5 modes?I called the teck line and think that I found all the modes but still not 100% sure and they told me it cannot be hooked up wrong(backwards).Well its running good so I relax about it and go for another ride yesturday.I make it about 2 hours out and it starts to have no mid range(won't rev up).Now I'm wodering if I'm going to make it home.Weird thing is if I stop and put it in park or neutral it will have good throttle response and rev up?Then when I take off it will work for about 1/8 mile at full throttle before crapping out?I took off the fuel controller and no change.Switched the fuel injection plugs with no change.I still have warranty with a build date of Nov 07.I'm thinking the motor is fine still because it will rev with no load.So TPS or crank sensor?Should I put it back to stock and take it to dealer?(don't really want to do all that work and find out its something simple that has nothing to do with the pipe)
Thanks for your input

Re: engine problem,please help
I agree with LTE being top notch.I haven't even tried to talk with them yet because unhooking the fuel controller it still has the same problem.I think someone on here will know exactly whats going on and i might not have to put it back to stock before taking it in(I'm hoping).I think I am going to have to send this controller back though because it is too hard to find the modes.Colors are not what the instructions show

Re: engine problem,please help
I think i am also going to get some abs pipe and make the LTE air box a snorkel kit.I don't like the fact of having to remove the box to clean and inspect filter

Took it out again and it runs great untill it gets warm.Where do you get the fault codes from?I wonder if it thinks its overheating and retarding the timing or going into limp mode or something?

Re: engine problem,please help
I dont have any of the products you mentioned so please excuse my ignorance.
How hard is it to go back to the factory paramaters? Did you install everything at once or did you piece it togeter over time.
If possible I would set it back to factory with the exception of the bolt ons and take it for a ride. It will probably run a bit lean but that will tell you right away if it is the controller.

That is exactly what I did and it feels exactly the same. Then i went one step further and replaced the stock airbox. Now supposedly I don't need the fuel controller. Before it got real warm it ran like a monster again(will not be putting the controller and airbox back on when problem is fixed because it ran so good without and LTE airbox is full of shit already)then after ten minutes the valve train sounded louder and ran like crap?No check engine light.

Re: engine problem,please help
valve train gets noisy when warm.. and when you run it hard.. because it pumps all the oil to the top.. did you check your oil?

Re: engine problem,please help
Ok,checked oil and it was low,ok real low, took 3/4 quart.Seems to run fine now?does it have hyd lifters and would not lift valve enough when oil was low and hot?still must be a problem because why was it so low on oil and why is the one pipe so black?i thought it was rich but now think its oil.Valve guide or piston oil ring.I only have 220 miles on it and did not think i need to check oil that often?i'm going to take to dealer I guess.

Re: engine problem,please help
you might have a broken oil ring..
if you go in and do a blowdown test it will tell you what's wrong..
if you're under warranty, i would take it to the dealer.. (take the pipes off first, popo could say the pipes leaned out the motor and caused whatever failure you're seeing)

Re: engine problem,please help
Martymoe,Is a blowdown test the same as a leakdown test?
I would think a leakdown test would tell you where your loosing compresssion(valve or compression ring)not oil
