blown engine. anyone else?

I have a rzr with 750 mi. and about 58 hrs this averages out to about 15 mph. This rzr is driven by my wife and not abused. The dealer said the rod snapped in an unusual location. I bought this rzr used have learned this is the second time the motor has let go. The warrenty company "polaris" is giving me greif and may not cover the 4200.00 new motor. Anyone else having motor issue's ?

No, but I was told that the push rods are the weak link, If I were you I would make them put HPD push rods in either way If you pay or if they pay.

Re: blown engine. anyone else?

I have about 500 miles on mine with no problems but my oil level shows high on the stick. I changed it thinking it had water or somthing in it and found nothing and when i put the new oil in it still looks like its over full on the stick by about 1\4 in ..It runs great and has never be low after riding.

Re: blown engine. anyone else?

UPDATE...looks like I need a lawyer. polaris wont fix because I put a pipe on the rzr. Seems odd to me the just an pipe would cause the rod to snap. I own 4 polaris products. They all will be up for sale. thats what I get for buying american...I shoulda bought a slow rhino..

Re: blown engine. anyone else?

That sucks I would have taken all aftermarket parts off before I took it in. But isn't there a law that says they have to prove that the pipe caused the problem?

Re: blown engine. anyone else?

so are you sayin your sellin your rzr with a blown mtr, after 750 miles sounds like you like it? id bet that if you tear into that motor your self theres not4.2k worth of damage, thats most likely what they want for a compleate unit.

Re: blown engine. anyone else?

For automobiles its the "Magnuson Moss Warranty Act of 1975". Not sure if it applies to ATV's. Spend a couple hundred bucks on a representaion and see where it goes.
Good luck!

I may need to eat crow. I just spoke with the dealership and they informed me that the guy I called about the warranty is not from polaris. "he said he was when i spoke with him" He is from G.E. the extended warranty company. "GE" said failure was from pipe and lack of lube, Dealership told the adjuster there is no way the pipe had anything to do with it and then showed him oil was fine, no damge to cyl. walls ,head ect. the items that fail from no lube are all fine. Dealer is calling polaris in the morn to see if they will help..updates to follow..
this one one of the first rzr's built, bought in june 07..

Re: blown engine. anyone else?

Sounds like the dealer is going to bat for you! Hope it all works out.

The warranty companys FIRST priority, is to protect themselves and any reason they can find to not pay, is their business... can't fault them, that's just how business works...

But if the dealer is helping out, which it sounds like they are, then this may all get taken care of.

Polaris isn't so bad, afterall... is it?

Re: blown engine. anyone else?

i will say that unless your dealer tells polaris you have a upgrade they will never know.....during the initial 6mos.......

however ge ext. wty. requires authorization before repairs over $1000 and will send an adjuster out to look at the damage before making that call.......if there was previous claim for the same problem they wil definately send an adjuster.......most of them are pretty easy to deal with and some are a huge pain.....we have had no problems with the pipe issue but we tear down box up parts in tubs and only have to usually show them the damaged stuff and maybe let them see the condition of the machine.......

it is crazy but they will try to deny coverage for something that is plain as day a manufacture defect(which is the key for coverage since any wear is not covered..even if tie rods or ball joints or wheel bearing go out in 20miles and you are in the ext wty time frame...bend over if your dealer will not at least try for goodwill from polaris) and then cover a guys machine that has been in a pond for 2 days and full of water when the oil shows all the evidence(he who makes the biggest fuss gets the most help)

dont give up but i am on the dealer side of it and our hands are tied....we are just a middle man.....and how many dealers would be around if they had to eat everything to keep happy customers...
