I AM WAITING FOR MINE FROM UTV CRAP, WHEN I ORDERED IT THEY TOLD ME YOU WANT IT AFTER RADIATER IN THE FLOW OF WATER THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN COOLED BEFORE IT GOES BACK INTO THE MOTOR FOR THE BEST READING.

This is made for the Polaris ATV's but I'm sure with a little work you can get it to work with the RZR...
ATV parts, ATV tires, Quadovator ATV Accessories

Re: best place for water temp sending unit?
This is an interesting topic because i was thinking you would want it to be on the tube coming from the motor to the radiator because it would give you a more acurate reading of what the temp of the motor was verses the already cooled water coming from the radiator. I dont know though that was just my logic when thinking about it interested what others have to say

MY UNDERSTANDING OF IT IS THAT THE WATER THAT'S BEING PUSHED INTO THE MOTOR IS MORE ACURATE BECAUSE IT IS TELLING YOU WHAT TEMP YOUR COOLANT AS IT IT ENTER'S MOTOR AND AT THE SAME TIME IS TELLING YOU HOW COOL/HOT YOUR COOLING SYSTEM CAN COOL. I JUST ORDERED A KIT A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO AND ASKED UTV CRAP ABOUT LOCATION OF SENDING UNIT AND THATS WHERE THEY SAID TO PUT IT.

Re: best place for water temp sending unit?
i can tell you in automotive use its at or just befor the thermostat and is water leaving the eng also they install them in the block this way you monitor the actual eng temp... not water that has been cooled in racing this could be the diffrance of a blown head gaskit vs knowing how your cooling system works.... most eng damage starts at about 250 deg and if your moitor the coolant coming out of the radiator it could depending on your radiator be 75 deg or more cooler giving you a false reading .... yes it would be nice to see both but befor is more important a reading...

Re: best place for water temp sending unit?
I would say the best way would to screw the sendor for the light and put the sendor for the gauge in its place. If the thermostat sticks closed you will never know the temp. LIGHTS SUCK unless you use them to see where your going. LOL

Ok, I'm glad that I caught my self. I didn't look to see if there is another sensor for the computer, or if the computer turns the over heat light on. Sorry for my to quick to answer. John

Re: best place for water temp sending unit?
id install the gauge in the tee and mount the tee as close to the thermostat as possable it would be close enought now the next question is what does polaris run the rzr at? anyone know what temp the thermostat is?... add about 12 deg to that and thats your avg running temp.... but i would use about 230 as a start to worry temp...

Moving the stock sending unit would not be a good idea. The EMS takes into account engine temp for the fuel map.
