Re: Front 4x4 problem

mine works when it wants to lately. the AWD switch light and dash icon don't light up at times, and other times it will. needed it to get through some stuff the other day and it wasn't working. i left it on and eventually it came on and worked fine the rest of the day. wiring problem?

Re: Front 4x4 problem

i just bought a new razor, brought it home, tried it in the yard yesterday and the front diff wouldn't engage or light up the icon on the dash if you disconnect the plugin for the font diff and check the grey wire with the key on engine off and the shifter in either reverse low or high you should have 12 volts at this grey wire if you don't your problem is probably like mine being the awd switch is faulty unplug the switch pull apart and the metal tab inside wasn't bent enough rearced it and put the switch back together and it now works fine everytime except when i took it out today , splashed through a puddle and got the front plugin wet it quit working momentarily unplugged and blew it out fine again i am going to install a water proof plugin tomorrow

Re: Front 4x4 problem

I really wish I wouldve just checked out if there was power going through the wire. I figured... hey its under warranty let them deal with it. What a mistake. So far in the last month they tore the front diff apart and worked with polaris making sure everything was within specs. I guess it all is so NOW they are thinking it might be electrical. Why the hell wouldnt you check that first? haha. Theyre killing me. Just goes to prove you cant trust too many people with your toys. At this point I wouldnt want them to change my oil.

Re: Front 4x4 problem

apparently im having the same problem,i told the dealer about 3 months ago about front wheels not turning while in allwheel dr , they said they tested it and it was fine. my unit has been in and out of the shop for MANY problems so i have not been able to ride much, finnaly today i put rear wheels up on a rolling floor jack and engaged awd, and what do you know, its not working. i have had this unit for 6 and a half months, and its spent about 3 and a half months in the shop. i thought maybe i was the only one that bought a lemon but apparently not. sounds like A LOT of us are having problems.

Re: Front 4x4 problem

I only have problems with my 4x4 in reverse. sometimes my reverse indicator on the dash doesnt come on, thats when the 4x4 isnt working. its fine in high and low. If the "R" is lit up on the dash then I have 4x4. what should I check?

Re: Front 4x4 problem

That sounds like something electrical for sure. My AWD works so far since I have had it back from the dealer. The problem I was told was some sort of "sensor bracket" being positioned wrong. All I know is that mine is under warranty for 3 years so if it didnt get fixed they will be seeing me again. I too ride in the dunes mostly. Alot of people who are just trail riding would never realize it or atleast not as much as pulling up a dune.

Your "resistor module" is going to die soonThat's why your "R" only lit some time. In a few ride, it won't lit at all and you can't have 4x4 without the "R" lit.

TEST IT: It his on the driver side of the battery, under your seat. Locate the main electrical harness and you'll see it. It come from the harness and is attached to it by a tyrap. Cut the tyrap loose then you'll be able to get the module off the plug(It's locked to the plug by the sides). Take ohm meter and test the resistance on the module (page 10-13 in shop manual) You won't have any resistance on the "R" position

Don't search the part number, you won't find it, your dealer will have to call the tech but i should have it tomorrow or friday. It cost 23$ C.

On mine, it was the "N" ;o)

The "resistor module" part number is 4010924 and the part name is "Resistor, Module". For some reason i t doesn't show as a RZR part but does across other models and is the exact same part # for other Rangers, Sportsman, etc. I had to fight with my dealer to believe me as they said they couldn't order without the part and they didn't know what a resistor module was.

Re: Front 4x4 problem

mine is one year old and is getting ready to go back to the shop for third time. I have experienced all the same front end problems. The last two times they said it was an armature and cage that broke. The only time my four wheel drive is working is when I don't use it.

DId you check out this module? When I first checked mine it was full of mud and dirt and previous to this my "R" reverse light wouldn't show most times and then that evolved into no AWD at all. I located and took this "module" out, cleaned it and the socket and then put some dielectric grease on it and then the R pretty much showed up all the time and the AWD pretty much worked all the time. A pretty good indication this part was going bad. Another thing that can cause problems is having your battery low - it couple amplify the issues.

Re: Front 4x4 problem

I had my front pumkin go out at about 5 miles there is a plastic cage that works the 4 wheel drive. I had my dealer put a billet one in. It work great, but at 150 it's out again. This time it sounded like a bearing grinding, engages and disengages now.
