Hey guys, I guess I have a heavy wrench.
I was checking the fluid level on the transfer case (The little bolt on the underside of the transfer case where you take it off and confirm that fluid is running out) and noticed that it didn't feel as tight as when I loosened it and it kept spinning.
It's definitely stripped a little. I took the bolt back out and at the end was a piece of the housing from the threads on the transfer case. The bolt itself looks fine.
I put about 5-6 wraps of teflon tape on the bolt and stuck it back in and can get about 5 ft lbs of torque. No leaks but, I only watched for 15 minutes.
What would you guys do in this situation? Should I re-tap it for a larger bolt? And can it even be tapped in the position its in?
Let me know your thoughts.
