Engine rebuild

Redoing my 07 800. New crank bearings valves pistons valves and all. How much of a gain is it to go big bore. Thinking of 82mm/true 800. My friend is going to port the head also. Planning On bumping the compression up regardless of big bore or not but still run it on pump gas. Is the big bore worth the extra money? My cylinders are good only needing honed at this time due to glaze. Also going to out an s cam in it if I can find one.

Re: Engine rebuild

+2mm is worth a few hp. Generally enough to require a bit more clutch weight and fuel, so with that said make sure you incorporate the cost of those additional components. We sell a +2mm big bore kit that is $750 with cylinder exchange for forum members and the compression ratio is 11.0:1.

Re: Engine rebuild

im not sure i am wanting to spend the extra cash. the exhaust that came on the rzr is a gibson. it looks like it would cost an additional $300 ish plus the cost of new exhaust.

Any good muffler with the S style dual head pipe on 09-up and all 11-up 800 is 90% as good as the aftermarket headers so I've read/heard for engine build like yours. Didnt mean you needed a new $800 exh system

Also on head, a good multi angle competition valve job is worth as much as just porting head. Also look into Team Alba spring kit as sure your valve springs are worn out

Re: Engine rebuild

You'll probably need to change the ECU-Module to get the better timing and fuel-curves like the later model RZR's have. Also, a late-model throttle-body and MAF-sensor would be a good idea. My two-bits.........

Cheers

LOL! Ya, power and performance increases are ALWAYS measured in cubic-dollars, and there ain't no magical, cheap and easy routes to go.

Cheers

Re: Engine rebuild

If you're sure cylinder dia. is good, go 11:1 CP pistons/rings. Cam, if you can afford it. See Zforce for porting and Serdi valve job(go +1 if you have a few $). Replace the exhaust valve guides. 'S'/ FMF header. DDP clutch kit. You'll love it. PCIII/V makes it better.

Re: Engine rebuild

I'm not sure I'd go to the effort for an 'S' cam. Anything hotter and you may be into push rods, lifters and springs. Then you have the tuning effort to struggle through. Gets expensive. Been there, done that and had fun playing the motor.
