Smile Need Help with Dragonfire Exhaust&Controller

Anyone using the DFR Full Header Exhaust & Controller? IF so,
are you satisfied with results vs. COST.
did you find it necessary to use the Clutch Kit
I'm having a difficult time getting HONEST answers to some performance questions, sooooooo I'm requesting info from
REAL END USERS.

Re: Need Help with Dragonfire Exhaust&Controller

The problem is even with end users you won't get the whole story.
Some will say it's the best money spent-just because it was the choice they made.
Temps, elevation, clutching, riding style etc. make a difference as well. It really takes a side by side comparison or dyno for your particular riding style or situation.
It sucks BUT what we really need is somebody to pony up and perform some comparisons for us...of course we can spend the money and do all our own testing but damn....
I will usually find a tuner that will work with me, understand my needs and then stick with them and enjoy my ride. I don't need to be the fastest but the most consistant and reliable. I shop for a tuner that looks for what I look for, I don't care how long it takes.

Re: Need Help with Dragonfire Exhaust&Controller

If you can afford it and you are not going with LT Kit...the LTE is the power maker...will smoke the stock system...competitors systems...please I am not looking for a fight...just stating the facts after running other RZR's with aftermarket or stock exhaust...
0-50 mph with LTE System is 6.5 secs average...stock is 8.7 average and thats giving the stock a good benefit of a doubt...I have looked at the dynos of Two Bros and LTE...both setup a little different...it looks like TB's locked the clutch out...LTE did not lock out...The TB's looks like good numbers compared the LTE but if you look at the departure across the whole power band the LTE makes 1.5 to 2hp more than TB's ALL the way across!...no wonder these things pull so hard...the time I posted is without a CLUTCH wait till I clutch it and dial in A/F ratio... YeeeeeHaaaawwwww....You do need an Air Mod (Open it UPPPP) with the LTE System...and their fuel controller is setup for their system correct from the shop...

Re: Need Help with Dragonfire Exhaust&Controller

blackbart if you can afford it i think rzrider is write find a good tuner. also i would talk to utv crap and unleashed utv. ive been talking to pgreg at unleashed and he is vary helpfull. pgreg is working with a tuner that knows his $hit. and he's doing exhaust mod. give him until thursday than call this number 602 246 4011. ask for greg tell him you want to know how the exhaust. air intake. and clutch tuning is coming on his rzr. let him know what kind off cruzing you do. and keep your ears open. hes not one to fall for bull$hit mods. johnny at utv crap is a kicka$$ player in this market also. call 623 934 3070 and ask for (JOHNNY PAYCHECK). i havent got to talk much with him. but if you look around this site he has proved that he deals with what mods work. i can tell by reading what Lt470 writes that hes in love with his exhaust. im sure he check into the results and put them to the test. hes happy and thats all that matters. do yourself a big FAVOR call greg and johnny. if nothing else there cool people in this markt to talk with. also i dont know how great johnnycats exhaust performs but it looks BADA$$. ask him where he post it and take a look.

Re: Need Help with Dragonfire Exhaust&Controller

I'm just waiting, I'm sure it's a matter of time before sidexside action or cartwheelin does an exhaust shootout. I would say to stick with all the same components. Like If you do go with dragonfire, get there exhaust, clutch and fuel controller. I wouldn't get there exhaust and somebody else's controller. I am probably gonna end up with a Boondocker controller because I have to use it to run nitrous. There is alot of manufacturers out there that make an exhaust. I called dragonfire and they are very knowledgeable people and really nice. I can't remember exactly how much but they said with there clutch, pipe and fuel controler you get 6 horsepower to the ground which is true rwhp. You gotta watch sometimes what people claim as hp gains is at the crank and not at the rear wheels.

So my opinion to you is find one you like the sound and looks of talk to the people who sell it and get there whole kit. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Need Help with Dragonfire Exhaust&Controller

Just havin fun guy's...thats what its all about and enjoying the ride...I like messing around with any engine just to see what gets more Hp...I spend too much money doing this but really enjoy it....
A lot of the other pipes are going to give you good gains at a decent price...and it depends on where you ride at...I do quieten mine down for the trails and around home...but when i get to the dunes or offroad riding areas where it's fair game...I open the system up...I always run my spark arrestors...seen too many burnt trees in Arizona and now I understand why they require spark arrestors...
The Two Brothers Slip On makes good power and is cheap...The HMF is a bad Dual Copy but looks OK...Big Gun I don't know?...
I've heard a couple of guy's say the Dragon Fire is a good pipe with good gains...
Anything thats sounds different from the stock exhaust has got to be better!!!

Re: Need Help with Dragonfire Exhaust&Controller

I Have A Dragon Fire Pipe And Fuel Controller, It Made Noticable Power On Stock Machine But It Leaks And Routing Could Be Better. I Like The True Dual Pipes Like Lte Or Hmf But They Don't Work With L.t. Kits Or Even Some After Market Stock Replacement Shocks. I Think The Hpd Pipe Is The Best For The Money. It Was Not Available When I Got My Dragon Fire Pipe. Hpd Pipe Has A Long Dual Head Pipe But Keeps The Single Center Exit Out Of Rear Design And It Comes With Bung And Plug Already Mounted So You Can Hook Up An O2 Senser For Tuning.... Sweet.

Re: Need Help with Dragonfire Exhaust&Controller

I received my LTE kit(duels, fuel controller, air box and EPI clutch kit and belt)and installed the exhaust, air box and controller after work last night.Everything fit perfect and went easy(allthough I have 2 extra bolts with locknuts leftover and a plate with LTE stamped on it?).I went for a rip last night and thought there was something wrong because when i stomped on it from a stop it would smoke the tires for about 10 feet then hit the rev limiter.Guess i have to install the clutch kit.I'm not sure if the controller is working though because it doesnt seen to have the 3 modes for basic tuning(yellow, geen, red, only red and green?).I unhooked the controller also and could not tell a difference.

Re: Need Help with Dragonfire Exhaust&Controller

dgal I had the same leftover parts, called LTE, they said the two extra bolts, nuts and washers have something to do with the air box. I think they were just extras included in the hardware kit. The piece of plate metal stamped with the LTE logo is a heat shield, which is to be placed on the header pipes with the two supplied muffler clamp brackets, they actually bolt around the pipe and they have two bolts that you undo from them and mount the heat shield on the passengers side by screwing those two bolts through the heat shield back into the muffler clamps. The yellow light is there on the TFI, it's just hard to see because it seems to be only a few shades lighter than the green. I had to stare at mine a while, but figured it out. I did take it off and put it back on and it did make a big difference. As with anything, it just takes time to figure it out. As with me, I have no patience, but I'm learning.
