REAREND

I thought there was a thread on this but couldn't find it. I have this clicking noise in the rear(sounds like rocks in it). Jacked it up and turned the wheels and it's coming from the rear end. It seems to be getting louder. When riding it is pretty loud. Also what color is the oil in the rear end suppose to be? Mine is gray. Just wondering if water has gotten into it. Does anyone else have this and is there a fix?

Re: REAREND

The rear end is a gear lube 80-90. Should be the same color as normal motot oil just thicker. Not grey.

Re: REAREND

is it metalic gray if so this is bad real bad as in metal in oil broken parts if water was in it it would look like coffiee with cream plus a clunking noise sound like something broke i looked at the parts photo of the rear end their isnt alot of parts in it the ring gear rides on a spool so id say a gear tooth or bering/bushing is first thing to look at

Re: REAREND

Don't know what to tell you about the fluid, but are you sure the noise isn't coming from the brake pads?

On mine the pads kind of jump around a little and make a noise like you are describing.

Re: REAREND

Approximatly 200 miles on it. I have not beat on the drivetrain at all. 99% of all riding is trail riding (under 20mph). It is light gray in color. Guess I'll be giving the dealer a call today. Thanks guys for the input.

Re: REAREND

I have had several problems with mine. I can tell you from experience that the rear end fluid is a light grey/blue color and very thin. It almost seems as though its too light duty for the rear end gears. However, I have had to have the unit replaced and the fluid is correct per Polaris dealer. I know from my dealer they have told me that there is a ring and pinion problem with the RZR. My unit cracked open like an egg due to the problem. If you call the dealer they can give you more info on if yours is covered under warranty.

Do you have pictures of your broken Diff? If not can you describe where it broke and what it looked like?
Thanks
