Fan keeps coming on
I have a brand new RZR and the fan seems to be coming on a lot for the conditions. The ambient temp is 45-50 and am just cruising up and down the street at 25 to 30 off and on for maybe 1/2 mile then turn around and come back(in HIGH) . in the process of turning around and going back up the street the fan will come on, or if i slow down and come up the drive way which is 20 feet are so it will come on by the time i get to the garage. I only have 6 miles on it just doing a little brake in, almost by the book before I get on it. I have checked at the fluids and there good. I read in the Polaris manual that it can do this if the temp is not high enough. Any thoughts please chime in thank you

Re: Fan keeps coming on
Mine will come on a lot, but it does not run long and then it shuts off. That is good. I would not worry about it comming on, as long as it does not run all the time. I had a 660 Grizzly and the fan would not shut off. It ran hot a lot in the summer. I don't think the Rzr will run hot because the radiator is so big.

Re: Fan keeps coming on
Something easy to check that could cause overheating is air in the system. Its very easy to get out. Just pull the seats out take the center section off to expose the motor and on the passeger side you will see a thermostat housing with a screw in the center. Loosen the blead screw until air or coolant comes out and tighten back up. If you listen you will hear the air come out. Make sure you have the radiator cap off while you do it.

Thank you I will try that. I dont rember the Rhino doing that when it was brand new. I have had quads and the only time there fan would come on was after running them hard in the summer. I had a yzf 450 that was jetted wrong off the show room floor and it did the same thing, it was way lean. With the RZR having efi would that even come in to picture.

I have heard that they are really fat from the factory, so it for sure isnt a lean condition. My fan runs more than I would think it should, as most do, but with the air in the system it was real bad. I dont think alot of air gets through the radiator so when the fan comes on it cools it right back down.

Re: Fan keeps coming on
1 day old, 2.5 hrs total engine time. Riding up and down my street in 30 degree weather. Fan came on and check engine light. Took it in, no engine codes, but definately had air in the system. We'll see if things improve.

Re: Fan keeps coming on
My new quads always came on more when new. Thats why its important to break them in nicely. New engines are tight. I realy do like the idea on getting hood vent for radiator. I havent found one I realy like, I might just have to fab one. John
