Spartacus and Reapers

hey i know you have alot of experience with alot of different tires

ive been going over alot of tires and wheels and im ready to order for your black friday sale!!

but im probably going to go with

front GBC Grim Reapers 26x10x12
Rear GBC Spartacus 26x12x12

and going to put them on DWT black diablos

but i wondered your opinion on that tire choice, i think the steering of the reapers can be greatly benefited by the climbing and pulling of the spartacus

i just want a setup that both climbs anything and turns where i point it, i hate front end push and hate spinning out on a hill

so whats your opinion, any problems you might think of runing this

BTW its going on a 2012 RZR s

thank you

Re: Spartacus and Reapers

I think that 10" is too wide for front and will hender your handeling..9" on front would be better imo.

Yeah, I know. That was problem with the dominator tire that I have and like so much - I couldnt get it in a 9" wide but I settled and I still really like them but it hurt me on front end push and handeling at high speeds....I think the more narrow the front, the better off you will be. There is more lbs per square inch on the ground and much more responsive steering...just something to think about.

Re: Spartacus and Reapers

Well, they are both excellent 8 ply rated radial tires but I would think you would be better off with a matched set.

What type of terrain are you riding in? Both of these tires handle extremely well. The Spartacus are a true mud tire so if you ride muddy trails a lot I would say that tire would be better.

Good choice on the DWT Diablo wheels. They look sweet.

the trails we ride typically have some mud but never nothing extreme, but some of the hills are really loose, like really gravely hills, if you are familiar with a slate dump then thats what we play in, so im looking for something that will climb loose material thats where i figured the spartacus would excel over the grim reapers

how well do the reapers climb? how well does each tire wear? and how well does the spartacus climb and steer?

thanks for your time

Re: Spartacus and Reapers

Both tires wear very well. I would say the Grim reaper will steer and ride a bit better overall.

I think you would be surprised at how good the traction is on the Reaper as well. We have a lot of areas here in the deserts of AZ that have very loose rocky hills and they hook up great.

If you ride a lot of mud I would say the Spartacus would be better because of the tread pattern. It is a true performance mud tire.

They are both excellent tires but how much mud you have would be the determining factor I would say. If you are in a lot of mud go with the Spartacus. If it is mostly rocky loose trails I would recommend the Grim Reaper.

Don't forget right now if you buy a set of 4 we have $50.00 off for our Black Friday sale.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Re: Spartacus and Reapers

So I gotta ask now...How do the Big Horns compare with the Grim Reapers?

I'm in MN, so snow 6 months of the year, then I'm on gravel/sand/hard pack.

Re: Spartacus and Reapers

I've been running the Reapers since Moab and have no complaints. I really like the way they handle here on the desert and they climb well.

Re: Spartacus and Reapers

i have been extremely impressed with the reapers, they made it handle like a different machine, never again have i felt like im going in the ditch in a corner and have to slow down, i just hammer the throttle and they grab

one are to not on the reapers is they dig extremely hard, they absolutely destroy the ground under them and climbing loose hills they just dig in, and bury up

but i did pretty much destroy a rear tire, i have about 300 miles on them and i never hit anything hard so i must have caught something sharp laying somewhere but i tore a big gash in the corner of the tire here are some pics of my damage

i put 8 plugs in it lol and some rubber cement so im hoping it will hold for a little bit but i doubt it lol

Re: Spartacus and Reapers

That looks like a bad hit for sure. I did that with a Bighorn original a few years ago. It took 10 plugs in the side wall to get it to seal up. I used the old Jeep trick of lighting the plugs on fire to melt them together. I always carry a stick lighter in my pack just for this. The plugs held for a few months for me.
