Holz skid plate

I love the set up, the only change I made was counter sinking the side plate hardware.
Works great, I was able to get rid of the Polaris guards formore clearance and I never get hung up on rocks anymore.

Re: Holz skid plate

How thick is the main skid?
Does it seem like it will protect as much as aluminum would?

Re: Holz skid plate

A quote from the Holz site.

"Protect your RZR with this tough and durable skid plate from Holz Racing Products. Made from 1/4" UHMW and 3/16" aluminum.

What is UHMW and why do we use it?
UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight) is a extremely durable polymer that is used in many applications where abrasion resistence (the ability to slide over a rock) and impact resistence is critical. UHMW will outwear carbon steel 10 to 1. Our kit features skid plates specifically designed to protect the front and rear differentials. Our front skid plate also provides some frontal frame protection while the rear skid plate is angled to provide protection for the rear frame tubes.

This kit will work with the stock Polaris Rock Sliders. Please let us know at time of order if you plan on using this skid plate with the sliders as we trim the side skid plates slightly to accommodate this."

Kit comes complete with the following:

Center UHMW Skid Plate
RH and LH Outer Skid Plates
Front Differential Skid Plate
Rear Differential Skid Plate
All mounting hardware and instructions

Re: Holz skid plate

I forgot to add that the aluminum (of the same thickness) will be stronger but also gouges and gets hung up on rocks, where the UMHW slides over the rocks.
The UMHW is also much more resilient in terms of "bounce back" properties, where the aluminum will crack and/or break with repeated blows.
It's kind of a trade off and I guess it depends on the duty of the plate as to which you will chose (aluminum or UMHW).
For me the choice was simple as I travel mostly higher speed trails with the occasional "uh oh" in my path.

Re: Holz skid plate

When they first came out they did not travel up the sides of the body work to offer protection as most were using the Polaris tube bumpers.
Like myself I din't like the side tubes as they limited my clearance when installed.
Mark at Holz was good enough to offer up both options, side body work coverage or no coverage.
What you see on my RZR is what they offer.

Did you use their hardware on the side pieces and how did you countersink ,how deep?
Did you get any other Holz stuff?

I've kind of turned into a Holz junkie. I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into their products and there's nothing better than being able to talk to the guys performing the mods. Their directions are clear and precise, my son usually does the timed installs.

Air Intake
Clutch Kit
Rear End Braces
Skid Plates
Hood vent

Re: Holz skid plate

I have the Holz skids myself. They are a nice quality product, as they should be per the price.
